I am 39, have BAV with 2-3+ aortic valve regurgitation and dilation of the ascending aorta.

My cardiologist's notes which he sent me state the following:
Heart: PMI 5th ICS LMCL, S1nl, S2nl.
Extremities: Grade 2/4 distal pulses bilaterally.

Echocardiogram: Among other things it says something new:
Baseline left ventricular diastolic function is pseudonormal (stage 2).

I asked the cardiologist and he did not seem to want to get into an explanation and basically told me to continue doing what I was doing. I dont want to call him again on this since I have called him in the past during times of need. I like my cardio but want to make sure I dont overcall him; this way he knows when I call, it is important and he always answers immediately.

Anyone have any clue what these new showings mean?

Thanks for any input.

hey rick
This isnt meant to be a proper medical opinion, but with my knowledge of medical terminology (I'm a registered respiratory therapist) here's the way I interpret that...

"PMI 5th ICS LMCL, S1nl, S2nl." PMI =point of maximal impulse (where he can feel your heart beat on your chest wall, he says its in the 5th intercostal space in the left mid clavicular line (5 ribs down from the middle of your clavicle), S1 and S2 are your heart sounds, and I think nl is normal, so both heart sounds are normal

the pulses are grade 2 out of 4 in strength, and "pseudonormal"...pseudo is sort of, or kind of, so literally that reads kind of normal, which I have no idea what that means in that context...

hope that helps
