Friday morning I had my heart cath done at John's Hopkins. The procedure took 1 1/2 hours. The recovery was prolonged due to me being unable to produce enough urine.Eventually after a 7 hour wait in recovery,I was released to go home. The results showed that my heart was strong except for 1 30% blockage of the proximal area of the artery. He said my arteries looked wide open otherwise. The only fly in the ointment was that my pressure in my heart was twice the norm. Also, the heart wall had thickened and the valve was stenotic. This led him to suggest surgery within the next 2 months. He said I could wait until after the holidays to have surgery.I'm sure my surgeon will be contacting me next week to discuss these findings.I'll keep you posted.

Glad the arteries are clean- it looks like you are soon to be out of the waiting-room. Best wishes to you and be sure to post your date.:)

Good to have the cath over with. Now you can enjoy the holidays with your family and look forward to a new you in the new year. I am sure you will do well at Hopkins.

I had my AVR at Hopkins four weeks ago and I can't recommend it enough. Every person who works in cardiac surgery and recovery is competent and seems to love the work they do. It was truly pleasant to be with such happy people for five days.

Hopkins is a great place. I never had surgery there but my cardiologist at Hopkins was Kenneth Baughman. It seems to me that he may be in Boston now but not sure. He was my doctor for 15 years and I felt that he was one of the best. I'm sure you'll be well taken care of.
