Just wondered if any of you who have migraines have had a problem with them after surgery? I started having horrible headaches last Tuesday while I was still in the hospital and have had one everyday since. They kept me on my pain pump until about an hour before my discharge on Thursday so that helped alot and now I have both Demerol and Onycodone which will knock it out for a couple of hours, but it always comes back. I havent taken any pain meds for two days now hoping that it was the problem (plus, I dont need them for anything other than my head) but no such luck.

Other than my head, I'm feeling pretty well. I have no chest pain at all. My right shoulder and upper back however are causing me pain, but it is bearable. I slept on my stomach most of the night last night without any problem. I saw my PCP on Monday and my INR is low so he is trying to get that right which I'm sure when I have my blood work on Thursday will be better. I see my local cardio this Friday.

Kim,
Sometimes the after affects of the anesthesia will cause headaches. I had some bad headaches shortly after my surgery & then they disappeared! Give yourself a little more time; you have been through a very traumatic ordeal & it will take a while until you start feeling a lot better. But it's a good thing you have an appt w/your cardio on Friday that way you can mention this to him & see what he thinks.

What medications are you taking?

Take care & I hope you start feeling better. :) Let us know!

I have taken neurontin for years to prevent migraines. I am now taking coumadin and amiodarone for 3 months. I just finished lasiks and potassium today.
