ever since I had my mitral valve repair surgery 2 weeks ago I have had a low grade fever everyday. I had it in the hospital and still have it. Last night I was at 99.8 and this morning I was at 100.6 Tylenol controls it well but it comes back. When it comes on I am freezing eventhough it is not cold in the house. I live in southwest florida so it is not cold at all right now. I have told my surgeon's nurse and the physician assistant and they sas I should not be concern unless it goes above 101. did you guys have fever after your heart surgery?

Yeap it lasts about a month or so. Nothing to worry about unless you go above 101. Your body is healing and it takes time, lots of time.

My experience as well. Got up to 101 once for a short time, but not above. During surgery you were likely made deliberately hypothermic. Your thermostat has to readjust. Also, there is often heat associated with both damage and rapid healing.

Best wishes,

I'd get a low grade fever every evening and during the day if I over-did it. It lasted for about 3-4 weeks, I think. Your body is telling you to take it easy.

My temperature never reached 98.6 for many days post surgery. The whole time I was in the hospital is was 98.2 or 98.3. No one said it was anything of an issue.
