I believe one of our members, Arlyss, will have information for you. I don't think she would mind if you sent her a PM (private message) and asked directly.
You can look her name up on the Members List, click on "send a private message," and then ask your questions.
There have been several others who had surgery at UCLA, but I can't come up with names offhand.
Hopefully, someone will see this and respond. :)

I have had the Ross Procedure for a bicuspid AV ( no dilation of the aorta ) at 32 last year in New York at the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Recovered quite well and and six months feel quite a bit better than before surgery.

I have heard that cedars-sinai is one of the premier aortic surgery centers in the US -- Raissi is the head of surgery there and for aortic surgery especially involving the aorta and the aortic arch he may be the best.

I have family in the LA area and I talked with Dr. Hillel Laks' office at UCLA for my Ross Procedure, but dont have any further experience.

All the best with your search -- I have reason to believe valve surgery can be fully recovered from and life can become better in many ways for you post surgery and recovery.

Regards,
Burair

Thank you, your time and info is appreciated.

I am trying to make an appt with dr. Raissi now.

Best Regards,

My surgeon was Dr. Laks at UCLA. It would be pretty hard to find anyone better. I highly recommend him.

Best of luck.

Paul thank you for responding. I have seen 2 surgeons at UCLA both working under Dr Laks, but not Laks himself. Dr Beygui and Dr Esmailian. Should I go up the ladder?

thx

If it where me, I would only want the best and I would insist on Dr. Laks. He is a busy guy to see, but I would do what I could in order for him to perform the surgery.

You could also check with Dr. Estioko. I had my surgery at Good Samaritan, but I believe Dr. Estioko is at a different hospital now; I don't recall which one but you could find him by doing a search on the Web. My husband and I consulted with three different highly-recommended surgeons at three different hospitals up in LA and liked all three of them, including Dr. Raissi. I specifically wanted to find a surgeon, however, who would do a transfusion-free surgery. Two of them said they could and would.

You're doing right to ask questions and search out answers. If you send a private message (PM) to Arlyss, I'm sure she will be very helpful; she was for me also when we weren't sure where to turn for help.
