I just finished reading " Walk on Water" about Dr. Mee and pediatric heart surgery. It is an amazing book . Sometimes you cry and sometimes you want to cheer.
Read it twice through............that's what made me want to get a second opinion from him before Katie's last surgery. He couldn't offer us the miracle we wanted and basically told us to stay put with Dr. Bove. It was nice to have that affirmation from him, although I was disappointed that he couldn't offer us that miracle solution we were seeking. We got our own miracle, of sorts..............and Dr. Bove walks on water, too, by the way.
BTW, just as a side note, many people have said that Dr. Mee is a very cold fish. I totally disagree. Once we got past his guard nurse, and he personally replied to our e-mails, he was very compassionate and said that he was sorry that he couldn't do more for us..............that he wished he could reassure us and take our fears away..........
