Thanks for thinking of me today on my birthday. I actually have two this week, today and this Friday the 15th.

Does seem a bit unreal that a year has passed already, but it has. I often find myself thinking about what I was doing this time last year. I was worrying about the surgery and what life would be like, assuming I made it. To my pleasant surprise I am doing way better than I ever expected. I don?t hear any clicking; coumadin is really stable; I exercise at least five days a week; I stopped drinking (a year today) and I seem to have more energy. My only vice these days is good Italian food and ice-cream.

So live is good and life goes on. I have been very blessed with a great wife, and two beautiful daughters. My oldest is touring Russia this week with her husband and my youngest is building a house near Riverside California.

I also want to say thanks to all of you. Ross, Bill, Nancy and Evelyn and many others helped me make it through the valley of uncertainty and over the mountain to recovery. Thanks for being there for me, sharing your thoughts, prayers and knowledge. Now we have to continue to help all the new folks that will continue to come to this great site.

Here I come..dragging in a day late to wish you a Happy Birthday. Hope you had a wonderful day. I remember all your posts after your surgery.. I was only 4 months ahead of you. Boy, did we help one another out. and Ross was laying in a bed somewhere and we couldn't find him and we were all scared to death. But, alas, he came to .and we were so happy..Our man was back Is Russia having the heat spell..heard from a cousin today who had been to Europe and just got home. Said the trip was horrible due to heat and no a/c anywhere. Again.Happy Birthday Walter. Bonnie

Thanks for the note. Yes we sure did help each other out. Seems like such a long time ago doesn?t it.

My daughter and husband are currently touring Russia. They started in Munich and called me via a satellite phone that the heat was just unbearable. The only saving grace they said was the beer. They then went to Kiev where the temperature was high 60?s and low 70?s. She said the place was beautiful but the food and facilities were lacking. Apparently at the hotel they forgot to put sheets on the bed and this for about $150 a night. They are now in Moscow and then they go on to St. Petersburg and finally back to LA. Some life these kids lead. Ahh, to be young and fancy free once more.

The other thing in short supply over there is ?Right guard?. Can you imagine???
