for Katie's birthday blessings and good wishes. She loves all of the birthday images and can't believe they are all for her, but was a little baffled by Spock.
Heehee! She did get lots of presents and has two cakes (Don and I both got one!) and has more to come as her big birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's is Sunday afternoon (if you can call her one friend a big party
) , but she will have lots of adult "friends."
Yes, she is slightly spoiled, but, frankly, the kid deserves it. It is so hard to believe that she turned the big 04
today! The day has been full of mixed emotions for me as this is also STephen's celebration of life (burial tomorrow). Of course, we live too far away to go, but the Molnars have never strayed far from my thoughts............
I have spent much of the day reflecting back on this day four years ago when we were thrust headfirst into the world of congenital heart disease. Unbeknownst to me at the time, we were climbing on board a roller coaster for which there is no comparison; we have scaled the ultimate highs and plummetted into deep, dark voids. (Who
is that actress who said, "Hang on to your hat. It's gonna be a bumpy ride"? Not quite what she had in mind, I think, but it is so fitting.) A fellow heart mom frequently quotes a Buddhist saying, "This is this, because that is that." In other words, "we will know great joy, only because we have known great sorrow." I know that you guys can relate to this as you have learned post-surgery to really treasure life. We savor each day and know that it is truly a gift from God, not to be taken for granted.
I am grateful that the roller coaster ride has been this long, and pray that it continues for a long, long time to come..............although fewer dips would be nice.
I am truly blessed, both with family and friends. Thank you all so much.
P.S. And, yes, she is back to her stripping mode! Guess she wanted to celebrate her birthday in her birthday suit!
At least she let us talk her into a pullup for the pics................sigh!
