Bill, don't hold this one against me, but

Bill, don't hold this one against me, but

I just can't help myself! I've been waiting for just the right person to turn 50!
I thought Tom was going to be the lucky fella, but you hit it first! Have a great day!

Or as I told my older sister. . . "You're not over the hill yet, BUT YOU CAN SURE SEE THE OTHER SIDE FROM HERE!"

50? You're only a kid!

Stay that way and have many more.

50 but also less than a year old. Now that you've had surgery, you are legally able to state your age by your valve!!!!

Happy birthday and many, many more.

Happy Birthday, Bill. I certainly have enjoyed you being a part of this "family". Sometimes your posts are so poetic I wonder how you do it. Enjoy your day doing something you really love.

Hope You Have A Great Day! ! :) :) :)

Well - -

Thanks, Bryan and the rest of the cohort.

Mary- Sandy made my favorite (carrot cake with cream cheese frosting...mmm) but she got two candles in the shape of the 5 and 0, so no fire danger here. Loved the graphic, though. :D

Ross- according to the experts, I've only got enough gray to look distinguished. And I'd rather have gray hair than none at all. Does warfarin cause hair loss? The jury is still out on that one. I think it definitely causes hair loss in *elderly* people who were losing their hair anyway.

Karlynn- By your measure I'm not quite six months old, then :p. So I'm a valve infant, just thinking about maybe standing up and taking a look around with a firm grip on the leg of the coffee table.

Betty- Poetic? Most lawyers are accused of being wordy, but poetic? Thanks. Thinking about how much this forum has meant to me and how much my life has improved, post-surgery may make me wax eloquent on occasion. I'd rather be funny, though- it's a guy thing. (Right, Karlynn?)

Steve- I'm not complaining about being 50 - there was an excellent chance I wouldn't make it this far, so this side of the hill (or mountain) looks pretty darn good to me. And what I can see from here looks pretty great, too.

So what am I doing to celebrate? Well, I'm at the office today, but you can tell that I'm not working that hard. My wife surprised me on Sunday with an early birthday present - a Concept 2 rowing machine!! I've being scheming on how to get one of these babies since the day I came home from the hospital (OK, maybe the day after ). So I set it up and have been exercising on it - I love it. Anyone want a used NordicTrack? :D

My daughter is camping with her grandparents for a couple of days, so tonight we will go out for a nice dinner at one of my favorite restaurants. I'll start with a very large spinach salad and a glass of nice pinot noir to counteract it. If I'm still hungry after that, I'll probably go for a nice salmon filet. There's carrot cake waiting at home!

And tomorrow is my first follow-up stress echo! I'm in good shape, lost 26 pounds since the day of surgery and exercise daily - I'm looking forward to the treadmill and want to see how the new valve is doing. 50 is good!

And thanks again to my VR family for remembering!

It was my pleasure! ;)

I was up late anyway and it was on the bottom of the page just glaring at me...5-0!!! It must be the prednisone I just started. I took the dog out to play catch and she was throwing the ball to me today. :D

Bill,

Allow me to jump on your birthday bandwagon. So the pinot noir is for medicinal purposes? I like that! Food doesn't get much better that salmon and carrot cake. Have a great one.

Happy birthday, Bill. Eat lots of spinach, so you can drink lots of wine to counteract it.

Now you can join AARP, without many of the benefits. You still have another year before you have to check the box that says "over 50."

Fifty is not so bad. It's 51 that gets you...

Very best wishes,

Happy Birthday Bill!!

Happy Birthday Bill!!

I loved your post. And couldn?t help but laugh out loud when I read you are having a great glass of wine and salad for dinner... then going in for your stress echo the next day!! And they think I'm the crazy one around here... Bill, those stress echos are killers! So are rowing machines!! :p

Yup... 50 must do something to you!! :p

Just kidding, Bill!! Hope you have a wonderful day.... and good luck on that stress echo. :p

Happy Birthday--another Leo. Just had my 60th on Saturday, but since I haven't had a valve job I guess I can't start counting all over again. (Humm, I had my knee replaced could that count--then I would be only eight months old)

Sounds like your having a nice birthday even though you had to work. Mine was pretty nice too, we went to see my son Pete play (he play's base guitar in a CW band--The Mother Truckers) in Redwood City--my home town--just a half a block away from the high school I went to. Went to see my parents too and took the El Camino Real to get there, we didn't recognise anything along the way, they have torn down all the places we used to go to.

Here's the web site of the band for you CW and Rock fans www.themothertruckers.com.

Have a nice day.

Joan

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILL!!!

Have a wonderful day and a great time tonight - enjoy!!

Best wishes...
Anna : )

Thanks, Tom and Sherry. I have red wine every night, but tonight is special. I didn't go with the salad after all, but had some excellent fresh salmon...and of course the carrot cake.

Rain- doesn't everyone eat cake the night before their stress echo? I'll burn it off on the rower in the morning before I go see the cardio.

Anna- Thanks for thinking of me. I know you''re in the middle of your big move.

Joan & Bob-knees do count! If mine keep on going the way they are, I'll have another bionic part before I'm sixty. Then I won't know which surgery to count from. Say, weren't you two going to visit us soon?

My good friend Mike is turning 50 also in a few weeks; so we combined forces and are having a 100th birthday party at our house on Saturday. Your'e all invited, of course - it's open house from two to six. Check out our weather - you won't find more comfortable temperatures anywhere in the U.S. !

Bill

Yes we will be down your way at the end of September, other than making the reservations at the Kon-Tiki, we haven't gotten our exact itinerary down yet (too many other things going on right now I guess).

Have you guys ever eaten at the Cracked Crab in Pismo beach? We discovered this place the last time we were down there and really liked it. We also usually go to this German resturant (blow all our cholesterol allotment at one time) while we're down there--it's called the Old Vienna Resturant--and during Sept & Oct they have thier Oktober Fest, its a lot of fun.
