Thanks for your responses. I had a stress echo today, arranged by my cardio after I complained I had developed a nocturnal cough and was v tired. He took me off Renitec and onto Avapro (to see if that was causing cough - no significant change yet after a week), sent me to GP for blood tests etc, referred me to respiratory physician (in a few weeks) and sent me for the stress echo (today). The stress echo cardiologist said my heart worked to 100 per cent capacity and the valve, though obviously bicuspid, seemed to be reasonable. All the results will be sent through to my own cardio so he can compare to previous tests.
So I was thinking I was getting much closer to having the surgery - and thinking good, it will be over with - and now maybe I won't.
So good news for now I guess
