Good news on one front - Catheterization showed only one very small blockage; no need for work on that. Aortic Valve definitely needs replacing and first appt. with surgeon should take place this week to discuss timing and valve choices. However, chest x-ray taken in cath lab showed two "opaque spots" on top right and lower left lung. Need to have a CT scan to further explore these spots. Of course, my first thought is CANCER! What now! If anyone has any input, I'd greatly appreciate. If not, I'll keep you posted as soon as I know anything further. Thanks for all past good wishes!

*Hi Jan....I hope all will work out well for you...I will remember you in my prayers for a good outcome. Best Wishes....Jacqui.

Unfortunately, I can't provide any insights about the spots, but my thoughts I with you. I hope its nothing too serious.

Best wishes for a good outcome.

Hy Phyllis!

thanks so much for the referral to Karlynn's "small talk". I can't tell you what an uplift that was for me. I'm going to respond to her right now and thank her as well. thanks again, very much!!

Jan, I hope my BIL's situation causes you to worry a little less about the spots. As I mentioned his CT scan looked not-so-good (to put it mildly) but the PET scan cleared him. So don't panic if they want more tests after the CT.

I'm sure they are just being super cautious because they don't want to put you through valve replacement and then find you need to be subjected to additional procedures or surgeries. It's the same thought process for why they tell patients to get all the dental work done that they need.

Best wishes.

Jan,

I'm so sorry that you received this very disconcerting news. I can understand what you are going through because I have been dealing with a few of these medical surprises myself. You will be in my prayers that the CT scan gives you some answers - good ones of course.
Let's hope that Karlynn's BIL's good luck is contagious!!!!

Take Care!

Jan. Glad that the angio was clean. That's REAL important...the less time they have to be in there, the better. AVR's are thought to be a dime a dozen as long as there's nothing else they need to mess with while they're in there! That should be a huge sigh of relief.

I'm sorry about the Xray and I, too, hope that Karlynn's good luck will spread to you. I had a bad mammogram just before I was scheduling my AVR. That required a needle biopsy and removal of the questionnable tissue. It proved benign (but was of a potentially virulent type of cell) and I can totally relate to how annerving all of this can be all at once.

There are several people here on vr.com who have had bad but VERY SUCCESSFUL bouts with cancer. Please keep us informed about your results so you can get the best of support from those here who will know what you are going through.

Wishing you the best!

my ex went in for emerg appendectomy and the hosp staff forgot to do an x-ray or didn't have time so they took it before he came home. They found a spot or two so he went for more x-rays and they found that it was fluid. Maybe yours will be something similar. Keep us posted?
