I try not to whine too often but I feel like it right now. I am so tired of grey skies & clouds. There has only been a couple days of sunshine the past few weeks and I am not too optimistic about the rest of the summer. I sit in my house, looking out at my pool, yearning for the exercise. However, I can't bring myself to go outside, start swimming, and having to come back in because the storm starts. BUMMER!!!

So who has blue skies & sunshine so I can come and stay with you? :D :D

If this weather keeps up, I am going to need Prozac (just kidding but, still.....)

We have blue skies, and I'll have an empty bedroom for you to stay in until I get home!
What an offer! :)

Thanks Mary.

It probably seems a little selfish of me to complain about the weather when people are facing OHS. It's just when you fight so hard to be around, you kinda want things to be perfect.

Oh well, I just sat back down with a big bowl of fried rice with tofu - one of my favorite comfort foods. Now I just need to get out there & swim it off. ;)

better stay put!

better stay put!

Well, don't ever move to the Northwest, then!! Of course here we all feel like we earn our summers. Due to the position on the globe, our winter days are very very short. Daylight from 7am to 4pm. On the flip side, though, are these next few weeks surrounding the summer solstice. My husband and I ate Greek food, late last night and walked out at 9:45 to a creamy indigo sky. Oftentimes over the years we've watched the moon rise as the sun sets at about 10pm. When we get a "perfect 10 of a day" in the summer it is clear and scant humidity. It's heaven on earth, actually. But, as I said, we do pay for it with grey and gloomy weather.

Our daughter loves the rain. Rarely is it big and gloppy and rushing out of the sky, so especially when it is she will run outside and just stand in it, face up, arms out. She's almost 18! Mud puddle princess!

I love the grey skies. I'm very fair and blue eyed. The cloud cover is so calming. There are no shadows. Everything in sight is available to discern. Sounds are different. More diffused.

My dearest friend lives in LA. She loves the sun. She's sure that this weather would depress her. So you are not alone! Hang in there. I'll bet the sun will be back anyday now!

Marguerite,
I am one of three siblings who adore cloudy, overcast days. My mother always considered us nuts, but I view inclement weather as a great opportunity to stay inside, read a book, and listen to music.

It's not that I don't appreciate sunny days, it's just that they make me feel that I should be outside, doing something productive, to take advantage of their clear, blue beauty.
Cloudy, rainy days present me with a needed excuse to laze around. :)

lol
if you love clouds and rain then moving over here would be your best bet! its rarely anything else!

Buddy of mine asked me the other day if I wanted to put my A/C in. I told him that I'm waiting to see if we have a summer. So far, there has been no need for it and I had to use my furnace most of last month. I don't know about this state anymore.

How about Brazil?!

How about Brazil?!

It's autumn here but we've been getting a lot of sunshine. Come and visit me then!! The first time I've ever seen a very long summer's day was back in 1984 on my first trip to Scotland. The sun would shine until around 10:00pm and it was nice and warm. Robert and I had just met personally so you can imagine how nice and romantic our walks in the park were!! LOL!! :D Not what you're thinking though!! Yes Ross, I mean YOU!!!1
Débora :)

Gina,
Just come a little north to SE Michigan.
All the rain and clouds keep going south of us.
It is warm, sunny and beautiful out here.
Only bad thing is we have had only about 50% of the rain we would get normally at this time.
I wish it would rain for a week, our water bill is going to be really high. :(
Rich
Oh and yes we have plenty of room for you, if you don't mind staying with some displaced Buckeyes.

Well, the sun just came out here, the temperature is soaring, and next two days temps are supposed to approach the 90s. I bet in no time we'll be wishing for damp, cool days when we can turn off the a-c and sleep with an open window at night!

we had cold days all through May but it is coming into summer with a vengeance now. More rain than usual and south and mid Florida are getting buckets without stop for several days in a row now. That's VERY unusual for that part of Florida - all my life it has been 'it's raining; wait a minute and it will stop - and it would'.

Weather patterns have changed in the last 15 - 20 years. Really odd. Some old person told me 'must be those things they are shooting up in the sky'! Just nature, I guess. Happens every thousand or so years.

Weather here hasn't been consistant for more than a day or so. One day it's 70's and fairly clear, the next it's in the 50's and raining, or at least damp...
It hasn't gotten above 80? for the year yet... =(

Here's a shot from one of the better days we've had so far. Memorial Day during a wreath laying ceremony along the waterfront where a number of momuments stand for veterans of various wars and conflicts...

The guy in the American Flag shirt is a Vietnam Vet, a former Marine. I've got another photo of him floating around the harbor in an inner tube wearing nothing but a Speedo and water shoes. His Veterans post does an annual Polar Bear swim in January.... Good guy too.

I think it's time to get me one of those "AreVees" and travel with the sun. I am getting too old to waste my time on gloomy weather.

Now that I have lots of places to go - who knows?

Thanks for some discussion. At least it gave me something to do today. And, Mary, you are right - cloudy days are good book days. However, I have read so much my eyes are burning. ;)

Well you could live in Florida. They aren't very happy people at present. My brother in law called and for the first time, was actually complaining about the rain. Usually, it's him rubbing it in about being so sunny and warm, but not this year so far!

He he he.... My sis and her new hubby honeymooned in FL, Orlando and the theme parks, to be exact ... and had rain every day. BUT...they had the passes that let them stay at the parks after hours ... so they were still able to enjoy the time there :).

It is now sunny here ... and should be sunny for a couple days or so at least. Perfect time to come back and pick up those sun glasses you left here ... yes, I found 'em in my trunk when I cleaned the '87 MC LS Saturday :).

Thanks Cort - Chris will be very happy. The sun is shing here right now but the clouds are moving in again and they are calling for T-storms this afternoon. Maybe we should drive up there.

Will let you know about the glasses.

geebee-
You could come stay with me. The good news is that the sunshines bright almost every day here in Arizona. The not so good new is that is is nearly 100 degrees today and the temperature's rising.
Regards,
Blanche

Blanche,

We love Arizona, have even considered moving there someday. It is truly a place that proves the "it ain't the heat, it's the humidity". Although I have been there in mid-summer (you know, the 110 in the shade times?), I have never felt the heat like I do in Ohio (humidity hell). Right now it is miserable, some sun, some storm clouds rolling in and mucho humidity. I was working on the pool and got faint so here I am stuck back in the house again.

Boo Hoo - someone give her some cheese with that whine.

Sounds good :). But, this week is out ... as I plan to be in Nashville TN (I'll post about this separately shortly).

Seems like a lot going on in Nashville. Chris was talking to some buddies of his (he plays on-line Unreal Tournament with them) who are going to a wedding in Nashville this weekend. They wanted Chris to meet them there but we have a graduation party on Saturday and the Formula One race in Indy on Sunday.

I am sure we will work things out.
