I had been putting off seeing a Derm doctor for a year..What I thought was a basel cell cancer on my forehead....A pearly white pimple...I had 2 removed before on my face...One around my nose and one close to my eye..Like 15 years ago.....so, made the jump to make an appointment. I was spring-loaded to tell him first. I take Coumadin...And I did when he walked in...He said, I think it's just a whitehead...also, I had a wart  from picking at dry skin on my ear..and a black pin like spot on my chest.... 2 very old cysts around my waist. and a mole under my breast/bra line...He took a look, told the nurse to numb me...and he would be back in a few minutes to take care of them. What??? No concern I was on coumadin??????Came back in and they were all 3 gone in less than 5 minutes....NEVER mentioned my being on coumadin. :D .Told me the cysts are no big deal nor the mole....Here I was thinking that he would tell me to go home..stay off coumadin and come back later. After, he left the room, I said to the nurse who was putting a SMALL bandaid on them..Are they bleeding ect. she looked at me funny and said, NO. I got in the car and pulled down the overhead mirror..No blood. :D :D :D I will take them off tomorrow. Just wanted to show off my Battle wounds to get someone to feel sorry for me.. :D No one even noticed. :p :p :p So, there ARE great doctors out there..That do understand that Coumadin is no big deal..when it comes to small invasive surgery. Too bad he's not closer to Ohio. I need a good derm doc.

Glad to hear all went so well.

BTW - how did your plants fair in the freeze?

I went to the dermatologist and the receptionist asked, "What are you here for today?"

Me - "The usual stab, cut, burn and freeze."

Waiting room - Laughter even from the guy who had no ear.

all thingy's were fine...that he removed.. :) She said (Nurse) I have been trying to call you for 3 days but line was busy...Yet, I told her to call me on my Mobile phone.. :( I hate leaving and shutting off computer..Why? My family know to call me on my mobile phone if they need me..When I do shut off my computer..answering machine is full of annoying calls. All auto calls from People wanting to sell us something, ect...My Hubby has his on Mobile phone and he tells people that he deals with to call him on his.. The only reason I keep home phone is for internet. :D .Who wants to have to answer home phone during the day..napping, ect..to get an annoying phone call..I make sure all important people like my Cardio , Pcp, ect. know to call me on Mobile....And, yes, I have registered the NO calls from Government site..but they still get through. Bonnie

Good news, Bonnie. I need to make a visit to my dermatologist soon too- that FL sun wreaks havoc as careful as I try to be.

Have you noticed anything different in staying in the sun?Over the Months in Fla?It had been several years since I went to a Derm doctor. Made him look at my entire nekked bod.. :D After worrying for a year about the little pearl pimple on my forehead..I was so relieved to know..it was only a whitehead. :) I have had 2 pearl pimples on my face..and both turned out to be Basel cell cancers.. Had to have them both removed. The one on my outside nose left a small scar....I asked him if I could get a tan..from Sun? He said, sure..just use sunscreen .Thank goodness...I hated wearing Capri pants...Legs are so white. I notice in your Avatar that Dick is very tanned..Does he go to a derm? if not..make him go for a full body checkup..I lost a dear friend last year to skin cancer. same age as me...And he always stayed under the shade when we were watching our Grandchildren swim at our pool.. He lived in Fla before moving up here..a few years ago..It was so quick..just found a lump..then all down hill in 6 months...Spread quickly all over his body. B/T/W..he had open heart surgery the same time as me..For bypass...I think he was more concerned about recovery from it..and never bothered to check out the little things.Maybe my post to you..will remind others to go to a Derm doctor. Mine said, I don't need to come back for a year. :) Bonnie

My mother had all kinds of stuff taken off her face and neck over the years (she had that fair Scots-Irish complexion, abused by years of trying to tan when she was a young thing). She was on coumadin for many years, after a pulmonary embolism.

Neither her dermatologist nor the plastic surgeon he sent her to for one procedure that was more complex (to take off a patch very close to her eye) ever said anything about her stopping coumadin for any of this.

Bonnie,
I've had two basal cells removed over the last four years - one on my arm and one on my nose which subsequently had to be reoperated on with Moh surgery. I'm due for another check-up now (putting it off as we are babysitting our 5 and 6 year old grandchildren for 8 days, starting tomorrow :D ) and Dick has an appt. in two weeks to have two moles looked at. He is tan, but also very dark skinned and so far all his biopsies have been benign. I am fairer and have always had many freckles. I'm sure that the basal cells I've had were caused by my careless youth when I sunbathed with no concern. We went to San Juan on our honeymoon 40 years ago and I had sun poisoning the first night there, When in FL, I use 30 sunscreen in the beginning and 15 once I tan. I also try not to sit out in the sun until after 2 or 3 PM. We also lost a friend to Melanoma at the young age of 56. Can't say enough about checking your own body and seeing a dermatologist when you see anything suspicious.
Glad you had a positive outcome!

I found one on my inner upper arm and knew immediately what it was - purple, black, pink and erose edges. Sure nuff. Dr told me 'if it's brown, don't worry, but if it's colored, get in here'.

Question: why does it take months to get an appointment? Dermatologists would seem to be the least busy, I would think! On the other hand, I was brought up in Miami and Florida maybe is the skin cancer capitol?
