I do not suffer from indigestion very often (any more)?..I did in the past but it seems that since I quit drinking and smoking it is hardly ever an issue......Alka-Seltzer was my go to drug when I needed something?..I quit using it because of the aspirin in it. I have found a great replacement, if you like effervescing ant-acids??Brioschi?..it is straight bicarbonate of soda with no aspirin??works great!!!!...Just mix a cap full in water and Walla!!!!...Tummy is all better:)

Brioschi is stocked in the Italian foods section of grocery stores. What does that tell you?

Arm and Hammer Baking Soda is the same thing and probably cheaper. The problem with baking soda is that is works so well that the stomach makes more acid to overcome it. This rebound effect is its main drawback. To counter this effect beffres are added and they drive the price up.

You don't need much baking soda to couteract acid. I sometimes use it in tomato sauce if it tastes too sour. About a 1/4 teaspoon will sweeten a whole pot of tomato sauce. You can see it working by all the bubbles it produces. Use too much and the sauce tastes bitter.

So probably just a pinch in some water would work for stomach acid.

soda was used in my house when I was little - for indigestion, among other things. tooth brushing, household cleaning, etc. I keep some here. daughter uses it to brush her teeth. I add it to the litter box sometimes. Pour it down drains for cleaning, freshness. notice how it's gone up in price over the past few years? People have caught on.
