Hearing the news now on Fox..many grass fires between Ft.Worth and Dallas, Texas...Hope all our members are safe..Catwoman and Hohacktom? And I think others?..Take care and let us hear. Bonnie

Gijanet and Katie live in Arlington, TX which is located right smack dab between Dallas and Fort Worth. I hope they're all ok.

I heard the fires were in Kennedale too. Just below Arlington and FTW. The last company I worked for had a huge factoory on Dick Price Rd in Kennedale. Anyone from there?

So far okay for me. I'm straight north of Dallas. It's been soooo very dry in the area for many months. Combined with record warm temps and strong winds, (and careless people), the climate is ripe for fires. My heart goes out to the firefighters - career and volunteers - that have missed their family Christmas.

Thanks for thinking of us.

Sorry, didn't see this sooner..........

Yes! It is awful. Had another round of fires today............they're all over. Hundreds of homes have been burned. It's horrible. It is the driest year on record since 1956. One of the fires in Arlington was only five minutes up the road............way too close for comfort! The minute you went outside you could smell the smoke in the air! See it, too! Mary, the other big fire in Arlington was only about five minutes away from the hotel you stayed at. James, the Kennedale fires were horrible. Several mobile homes burned - those that can least afford it, of course. I don't think it engulfed Dick Price Rd, though. If you want to see footage of that you can go to http://www.nbc5i.com/index.html Click on "20 grassfires" and then the "NBC images."

Ya wanna know something weird? We were going to take the kids camping at Mineral Wells State Park. They have paddle boats, canoes, trails and campsites. Anyway, the weather has been so warm, it would have been ideal. We were just going to go for Saturday, stay overnight, and then come back today. At the last minute yesterday, though, I said, "Nope, we're not going. I do not want to be stuck in the middle of some woods if a fire were to start. Plus, we need to stay home and water our roof." THe kids were very disappointed and I felt like an ogre for nixing the whole thing. Anyway, I get goosebumps when I think about this, but Mineral Wells is on fire...........big time fire. They have closed off a good portion of Mineral Wells and they are not letting homeowners or anyone in until they can get it under control. I don't know if it was a premonition or just good old common sense...........I so rarely have either it's hard to tell. :D Anyway, thanks for checking in on us and please pray that we get some rain soon. It's been six months for us..........July, as a matter of fact, right before we left for Katie's surgery.

Many hugs. J.
