A little over three weeks after surgery I became a grandfather for the first time,(Im now four weeks post surgery) I wanted to postpone the surgery untill after my grandson arrived but the surgeon talked me out of it, Im glad he did because I now have lots of free time to help out. Im doing well and enjoying my time off, my only concern is this a fib problem that comes and goes, it only lasts for a few minutes at a time but its frequent and often wakes me up. Im told this is very common and usually goes away after the trauma of surgery is past, I sure hope so.
Thanks to all of you who helped me through this I am getting stronger every day and am looking forward to being an active, healthy and involved grandpa.

Congratulations! What a great recovery present!

Keep your docs appraised of the a-fib. They may need to do a little something more about it if it doesn't stop. But rest assured that you've already been over the biggest hurdle. Sometimes the engine just needs a little tweaking post-op.

I think it's better to become a grandpa a little bit after surgery rather than a little before, but no matter when it is, it's always WONDERFUL!:)

And I agree with Karlynn; I'd keep your cardiologist up to date on your a-fib episodes. I'm sure they will settle down, but they may need some help

Well...

Well...

If that ain't somthin to be thankful for! Sounds like good timing! Enjoy! Brian

Congrats, Kman! I'm sure your daughter is extremely happy to know that her son is going to get to know and love you as much as she does.

My dad actually had his OHS 1 week after I delivered my son and 2 weeks before my twin sister had her daughter. So, he got good news before and after his surgery. I think in many ways knowing that he had a couple of new grandkids to meet helped him push through his recovery quicker. Hopefully you will experience the same.

BTW, my screename is "Jiddo" because that's what my kids call my dad.
