I work for the city courthouse who just started a new computer program, to go so called paperless. The program just started this week and today, my data entry department, got erased into history. I had a been feeling all day till 2:00pm. They called me in and gave the info. I do still have a check coming and insurance till they find me a job or severance package, if no job is found suited to me. I hate the I idea to leave the city, fmla is great for me. But in the private sector, hard to have fmla. Pray for me eveyone and for those who lost their jobs and benefits this year. I am doing fine, crying jags have subsided and have the weeknd to have fun with my brother and neighbors. I hope everyone is doing great for the weeekend.

Caroline,

Very sorry you are enduring this right now. It is never easy to have to deal with job issues; I'm dealing with that myself right now, too.

Thoughts/prayers en route.....

Caroline,
My daughter, also here in Missouri, went through a similar downsizing last year. She was able to secure a higher position in the company she worked for, so she came out better in the long run. However, her good luck notwithstanding, it was a very traumatic period. She and her husband have a then 1 year old with a diagnosed BAV and complex clubfeet that need years of correction. Insurance coverage was a huge issue for them too. I hope and pray that the old saying, one door never closes than another one opens, proves true for you and you find a job that will provide what you need in terms of location, income and job benefits.

I thank you all that have replied so far. I was working the city courthouse and it went on this paperless system, first city in the country to do this. It started up just this week and I think that they let my department go to soon. In one week, there are so mant bugs in the system, there are things that cannot be done till it is tweeked. I am not happy in the way it was done to us and will laugh when it falls down. That have to remember one thing, it can't work with the human factor involved. We are humans beings, living and breathing. I wll be going to get my diabetes checkup this week and will keep you updated. Cardio is not till December. So I will be fine. I will hang in there, something will turnup and hopefully can still be with the city at city hall. I will be here. Have a great holiday. Later.

Caroline I trust all will work out well in the end; it is unfortunate that so many critical issues are dependant on your employment status in the US. I was pleased when I was made redundant 6 years ago (after many years of trying) it opened a new chapter for me and I haven't looked back :D.

My employer has had a series of layoffs over the last 4 years. At one point, my former supervisor was one of those. He opted for a buyout, started looking for another job -- and then got hired back. He did have to pay back some of the buyout $. He's still with us, 3 years later.
I'm praying that you'll find yourself in a similar situation and be able to stay on.

I forgot to mention that I am still drawing a paycheck and insurance coverage till there is a job offer or a severance package is offered. I would rather keep woking for the city, it is the fmla I have there. And the insurance. I am thinking of a last, desperate measure would be taking disability SS, due to the heart and diabetes. I know that life is tough to live, I lived it with my mother as I was growing up, she had RA all her life, diagnosed in her 20's. But the good Lord will make things happen and for a good reason. I am 46 and it will be harder to get a job once I reach 50. But I am being positive that something good will happen soon. I am doing fine. Relaxed during the weekend, family and friends. And I will be checking in here, and will keep busy. Later.

Just an update, no job offer yet, but hope to be moving soon to a new unit here. It will have nore room, the second bedroom will be for storage, and I will have more living room to have my computer and phone. The dog will love it also, no mice problems for the time being there. I have caught a large number of them, no thanks to a messy neighbor, a total now of 51 and counting. Had one last night, got away and a new one running around, babies mostly. But where I move, it won't be a big problem(hopefully). I am keeping busy going places and doing crocheting, just do something. And watch court stuff on tv, Like peoples court. etc. And All My Children is gone, boohoo. But there is one more, One Life To Life till itis gone also. My childhood favs are soon gone to internet. That is a good thing.
