I got an appointment with an electrophysiologist for two weeks from today. His name is Kevin Hsu and he is with Mid Carolina Cardiology Consultants in Charlotte. He will then probably refer me to a regular cardiologist in the practice for my valvular problem. I think because I've got a defibrillator, and it's time for an interrogation of it, they wanted to get me started with the electrophysiologist first. It looks as though there are about 15 cardiologists in this practice. The technician said that they would probably set me up at home so I can hook up to their office for my defib. interrogations in the future. I used to do that in Atlanta with my pacemaker, but when I got to Tampa and they put in the defib, the docs wanted me to come in for the interrogations. I also told the tech that I was on Coumadin, and that I managed that myself. She seemed very impressed. Anyway, please pray that everything falls into place with getting new docs and that we speak the same language (I'm talking about heart language and seeing eye to eye when it comes to heart stuff). I guess I'm just nervous because for the first time, I don't have a personal referral. My docs in Tampa recommended the Sanger Clinic in Charlotte, but they're not "in-network" with our insurance, so that would mean the insurance would only pay 70% versus 85%. And all of us on here know how much money that could/would be with tests, hospitalizations, etc. Anyway, thanks for letting me be a worry-wart. LINDA

It can be tough to find the right one. I have a cardiologist who I will go to again when it gets near time for me in 2020+, if he's still practicing. He's a truly great diagnostician. But he's not someone I could get along with after the surgery.

The cardiologist I go to now is a bit more laid back, and is a highly-respected interventional specialist to boot. We had a bit of a rough session the last time, but I'm hopeful we'll be more agreeable next time.

I wish you good fortune in locating compatible physicians.

Best wishes.

Hi. I used to live in Charlotte. My kiddos went to The Sanger Clinic. I am not familiar with any of the docs at the Mid Carolina practice you mentioned. Keep checking with your insurance company as they always seem to be in negotiations with new practices. Perhaps Sanger will be added in the (near) future. Best of Luck at your appointment.
