Whew! I am glad THAT is over! I went to see my cardi today to see what was up with the murmur. He said that even though I did now have a murmur when before there was none, that it is systolic, not diastolic like the other bad ones and that it was OK. He reassured me that is was the right thing to check it out given what I had already been through. He also said the extra beat we hear is because the valves dont close at the same time with the replacement valve. But that is OK too. I am so relieved!! Anyway, thanks for your well wishes. I really dont want to seem like a paranoid but I was a bit spooked, that is for sure. Too close to de ja vue to me. Karen

Thanks for sharing your good news, and adding to the information base here at VR. I can imagine how it would have been a scary time for you. Take care.

Love,
Liz

Replacement valves often sound quite different than a native valve. Cardiologists who hear them all the time know when to worry and when to not worry.

Joe has had a VERY loud murmur forever, it seems. Many docs mention it, but they are the docs who don't hear too many replacement valves.
