Joe had his cardiology appointment today. Everything was looking very good. His oxygen was 95 in room air, no rales, just diminished lung sounds from his old lung surgeries. His valves sounded fine, very little ankle swelling, his exercise tolerance is doing well.
I was kind of concerned about CHF, since it has been yinging and yanging for a while, but that seems to be OK. I have some leeway to make modest adjustments in his Lasix and K-Dur if needed 2-3 days at a time if he starts to gain fluid.
His kidney function is improving.
He's got a pacer check and echo scheduled at the end of December. But all looks good.
Today's appointment was pretty funny. His cardiologist is at a large teaching hospital. Joe met first with the nurse, who did vitals, then the Pharmacist came in with the Pharmacy intern in tow. They went over every little thing. Then the Cardiology Fellow came in and did a very thorough cardiology check. Then the Cardiologist came in along with the Cardiology Fellow, the Pharmacy intern, a Nurse Practioner, and another gal who was just watching. They left no stone unturned. It was like a great big medical party.
