I am going to take a break for a while, so nobody worry about me. I have a torn knee and no game plan from the docs for dealing with it, so I don't have a lot of cheer to offer others, and there is no sense me hanging around here and whining.

Good grief! If we asked people to leave for whining, there'd be only ...uh ...well ...I guess ...just ...uh ...Nancy, Glenda, and Betty left..?

It'd get pretty lonesome here.

Do what you need to do for yourself, but don't fret coming back grumpy. It's allowed. You're family.

Very best wishes,

Bob, I echo Bob in saying don't worry about whining. Only take a break from us if it's the best thing for YOU, not because you think that we don't want to hear whining. We'll be concerned for you whether you're here or not.

SuperBob needs some time on the "special" chat with Cooker, Freddie, Bina, and others who drift in whenever they need a lift. Think about it, and PM Cooker with your intentions.:D

You need me to send you some cheese to go along with that whine you're talking about?:p :p :p

Good grief, Bob, did you ever stop to think that maybe we enjoy reading your posts whether you consider them to be good, bad, or indifferent?

If you're not feeling cheerful, then post about baseball. That's always a mood elevator!:)

Bob ... if you do decide to take a break, sure hope you come back as soon as possible.

Umm, I'm not convinced you are alright. The Superbob I know wouldn't let a knee get in the way of posting. Take a break if needed yes, but you best get back here asap. Maybe we can order Cooker a leash? :)

I echo all of the above. No matter what shape you are in, you will be sorely missed during your hiatus.

Ok-- I'm going to give you my usual rant--

What do you mean that your doctor has no game plan for your knee??

Does that mean no PT, no surgery, no nothing. What's the matter with him-doesn't he want to make money from your injury??:p

A bad knee can ruin your life. Go-get some help for it. If this guy doesn't know what to do, then find a smarter guy who DOES know what he is going.

How about a sport's injury doctor?

You just can't let this go. Fight it!!

Hope you get the help you need, we would love to hear all about it when you feel like coming back, don't leave it too long and take care.

Superbob, take a break if you need to but please, please get back as soon as you can since we will miss you so much! I've done it at times for brief periods when my life got on the hectic side but not for very long.

I hope your knee improves and a plan comes together. Don't you just love a good workable game plan when the end result will be a better you!:)

SuperBob,

I read your post last night and this morning our Church Bulletin had an ancient prayer by St Augustine which I think applies:

?God of our life, there are days when the burdens we carry chafe our shoulders and weigh us down; when the road seems dreary and endless, the skies gray and threatening; when our lives have no music in them, and our hearts are lonely, and our souls have lost their courage. Flood the path with light, we beseech Thee; turn our eyes to where the skies are full of promise; tune our hearts to brave music; give us the sense of comradeship with heroes and saints of every age; and so quicken our spirits that we may be able to encourage the souls of all who journey with us on the road of life, to Thy honor and glory.?

Don?t stay away too long my friend. No matter how down you may get, you can still provide encouragement to someone here with your posts. You are always welcome, even when you whine!!!!

May God Bless,

Danny

Jeez-Louise, Bobby!! What a gentleman!!! Here I've been gone a few months and I didn't even have the decency to let everyone know that I'd be taking a break.

Breaks are necessary. Breaks are good. Breaks can give us perspective, and time for reasoned thinking. But the best thing about breaks is that we get to come back!!!!! Especially here! We're family. We need you! So please go where you must....but don't forget that we expect you back....whining or not, limping or not. We'll worry about you!

Take care of that torn knee. My latest round with knee troubles was very frustrating. I ended up starting some very good, gentle stretching exercises, 3 Syn-Visc shots (cushions the knee so there's no bone against bone....at least unless I move a certain way) and am back with my TheraBand doing knee strengthening exercises (from a physical therapist after the first tear was repaired orthoscopically 6 years ago). We haven't MRI'd to see if there is a tear this time. I think there is a little one. But the cushioning agent has REALLY helped me to move around. And the stretching allowed the tightness and true pain around the knee to subside enough to get walking carefully again. PLEASE find someone who will look after your needs. Don't just take a pat on the back for an answer. I'm with Nancy. Get busy and find someone to help you.

Best wishes to you!

Marguerite

First, thanks to everyone for all the kind comments. I really appreciate them.

When I was feeling very depressed Saturday, I thought I would take an extended break and I remembered the recent discussion about telling folks here when you were going to be away so they wouldn't worry. Not sure I did that the right way. Anyway, I am back. I decided that if there are a few occasions when I can help answer someone's heart-related question on the basis of my experience, it would be selfish not to do so.

In my frustration about my blown-out knee, I wasn't fair in my comments about my doctor. He wants me first to try rest and ice, and then re-evaluate in a few weeks. He is concerned that surgery to take out the torn meniscus would aggravate knee arthritis and make everything worse. I have read a lot of articles in past few days confirming that. That doesn't mean there will be no game plan -- physical therapy and low-impact exercise may help, along with weight loss (have Cookers Thrown-Down to help with that). I was wanting the quick fix of surgery (how bad could it be compared to OHS?) but I should know better than that -- other options should be tried first.

It just leaves me in a frazzled state of mind because walking my dog is one of my top joys of life. Sadie is not exactly happy about this turn of events either. I did drive her to a gorgeous overlook on the Blue Ridge Pakrway yesterday and hobbled around for a while looking down in the valley (she was a happy pup, even though the walk was short). I know, it was against doctor's orders. But I am a better heart patient than I am orthopedic patient. :p Anyway, thanks for listening/reading and thanks for caring. I know fully there are lots and LOTS of folks here who are battling much bigger problems....

Good, glad you're back and also good to hear that the doctor does have something in mind. I hate to hear that a doctor is not taking his/her work seriously.

Joe was always someone who wanted the quick surgical fix too. He just wanted it taken care of and didn't like the slow boat on anything. Mr. type AAA, I guess.

It's got to be so miserable for you having that kind of pain, so I hope you have some relief soon.
