A big thank you to all of my friends ;)

I went to my Doctor yesterday and he referred me to a new Cardiologist on Monday for tests. I thought that maybe the water retention is a common thing, but GP agrees that I need a sonar, ECG, xrays, etc.

Only down-side is: I have to go to Hospital for these tests. I joined a new Medical Aid on 1 Sept. and only have "in-hospital" benefits at the moment.

The Medical Aid that I was on for the past 2 years was decleared INSOLVENT last month and they are now under Liquidation! I think I helped a bit  so, now I am responsible for all the outstanding bills from my op! Hospital: R99 000, Surgeon R10 000, Aneathetists: R6 000, xrays, physio, Doctors, Cardiologist.... oh goody.

oh well, I am not to stressed about that. God has always looked after me and blessed me with so many things, I am in good Hands.

I felt better, even 2weeks after the op than I have felt the past 3 months! At some stage I thought it is just depression from being at home, losing my job and that I am just feeling sorry for myself... but for the past month I have been very happy in my new job and loving life... just not feeling well.

So, I'll go to Hospital on Monday, see the Cardiologist with a list of my Medical history, meds that I've been using and notes of symptoms.

Will keep you guys/girls posted :) Thank you for being here!:D

Sorry to hear about the collapse of your insurance carrier.
How to provide 'universal health care' without bankrupting the system or the country is a difficult and major problem many nations are wrestling with.

I'm wondering about the loss of your other job.
Did your Surgery play a role in that loss?

wow, that's a relief that you are getting checked. Thank goodness for knowledgeable VR members. Can be persuasive, huh? They have had a hand in so many situations that helped so much. Please let us know what they find. Blessins...........

Whatever gets you the help you need is a good thing. We'll be waiting to see your posts when you return. Good luck!

During 2007 I was hospitalized for 34 days, in total. All cardiac-related. They weren't very supportive when I told them I had to go for the op, eventually, so they gave me 3 month's unpaid sick leave with the promise of keeping my job open for me. Then, at 8 weeks post-op they decided to terminate my contract due to incapability. That was unfair dismissal and I took them to the Labour Department because of that. At that stage I was still battling with a resting HR of 130 and was admitted to Hospital again for treatment. The CCMA (Labour Dept.) called a hearing and I won the case against my Employers. They had to pay me a gratuity due to ill health and then I ended my contract.

this is just the last thing you need to happen after ohs.

i reckon it is bad enough to wipe the "smiley" off anyone's face!

Hi Westie,

no it is not good news, but nothing I can do about it... but I have two choices: either mope about it, or just handle it... I prefer to just handle it.

It is just unfair... I paid my membership fees every single month but now they just say "sorry, you are responsible for your own accounts".
