So, what do you do when it's been a year and a half or so since you got a mechanical aortic valve, and you've just fixed your very vintage go-kart?
You put it in your friend's van, take it 160 miles up the country to a vintage kart meeting, and get out there and have some fun!!

(For any vintage/classic kart fans out there, if you click on "Index" at the top of the page it takes you to 16 pages of photos of the things!).

The link is to a photo of Jim, he's in black leathers with a multi-coloured helmet and red/black kart from the 1960s (exhaust goes over the engine rather than next to it). The index takes you to all the other karting pics.

How cool! Looks like great fun!

I know, it is pretty cool isn't it?! :) It took several hours for the smile to disappear from Jim's face afterwards. It wasn't racing exactly, more an opportunity for vintage kart owners to get together and compare notes, but they hired a karting track for the weekend and went around as many times as they could before the engines blew up! And of course Jim couldn't resist the opportunity to put some karters from the 1970s through their paces  .

He actually took 2 karts but couldn't get one to run - it's now back in the garage in the process of being fixed, so maybe next time I'll have a go too...

Jim's ordered himself several photos, including one just of his kart (boys and their toys!). I bet that photographer makes a fortune if everyone who was there orders pics from him. I took some too, but nowhere near as good.

You mean to tell me none of you have gone go karting? Man your missing out on some top notch fun! Maybe Hank should set that up as part of a Reunion events package sometime. :D

I've gone go karting. It's just been awhile. ;) ;)

I'd forgotten how much fun it is until I looked at the pictures. :) Looks like you all have found a good way to spend your week-ends! :) :)
