I just heard from GKenny and he is out of ICU, had rough day yesterday, today was better, going home tomorrow (2/9)! He also sent me some great pictures and hopefully when he gets home he will share some of them with everyone. Just wanted to let everyone know.

Kim

Thanks for the update, Kim. We will look forward to hearing that he is home and to seeing the pictures.

congratulations!

congratulations!

Gkenny - glad to hear you made it home especially given the distance and weather conditions. Take it easy at home. I'm now going on about 48 hours at home and I'm finding my mind is telling me to go go go but my body says no no no. Good luck and I hope you're able to sleep. I got 2 hours last night and I'm considering that to be an accomplishment. Would love to get 4 hours straight but I can't seem to shift gears into sleep mode.

From your "twin" surgical date partner: CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING OVER THE HILL.

sounds like your trip home was an adventure.

Congratulations to both of you; kenny and Sailor.

I think we all can sympathize with the sleep issue. I wasn't sleeping longer then an hour at a time for the first week I was home. fall asleep, wake up, fall asleep again, wake up, read a bit, and repeat. The funny thing was that I never felt overly fatigued the next day.

By the 2nd week I was sleeping 4-5 hours straight before waking up.

It took almost an entire month to get back into my normal sleep cycle.

Surgery of this type just plays havoc with your natural body cycles.

Glad you are home, you sound like you are doing well, keep it up. Wishing you a continude good recovery.

Welcome home! I'm sure it feels great, especially after a difficult ride home. I enjoyed the pictures. They brought back memories although I didn't recognize any of the nurses. Hope you have a smooth and easy recovery. Take care, take lots of walks, and most importantly rest, rest, rest!

I'm so glad you and your wife made it home. Now just take it easy and let your body heal.

I am so happy to know that you are home. Happy recovery!
I love your pictures. But I have to say that I think men are lucky when it comes to taking pictures after OHS. You don't have to worry about your hair. I was in ICU for 8 days without a shower, just a sponge bath... Talk about a nice hairdo. I am glad nobody had a camera.:D

Thanks for sharing your pictures. Like Praline I'm glad no one thought to bring a camera. My hair do is still awful but I'm going to try and correct that tomorrow.
Thanks again for sharing
Earline
