I managed to keep up, with not smoking :) , i have just collected £109, for the childrens heart foundation. Thankyou to thows who gave me support. :)

Way to go! Today makes 2 mos. since I quit. I've usually got alot more money in my pocket now but my teenage daughters have suddenly realized that! Funny, I tried 7 or 8 times in the last 15 years to quit but it took open heart surgery to finally help me quit.

Way to go! My daughter quit smoking on August 30, and says she thinks she's about got the urge licked. I'm glad you were able to help the children's heart foundation. :)

Congratulations Paula and Johnny! (and to your daughter too Mary) Quitting smoking is no small task.

I'm amazed at the change in Smell and Taste. I can tell if a car goes by while were driving, if someone in the next car is smoking...No, not with the windows rolled up!......lol. It is so easy to pick smokers out in a crowd tho.

You can do it Pam. It took the surgery tho for me to finally quit. I'ts a tough addiction. :)

Yes, its funny how stale they smell on people once you give up. Also i find you can smell people more when they've not washed, not very nice  and i find i dont like some foods now i can taste them, just small inconvienices, i do feel alot better thow.

Congrats to all those who have quit and are trying to quit!!

Pam,
Sorry to hear about all that you are going through. Hopefully it will start to get easier for you soon. If you need to get some agressions out go a hockey game and yell til you can't yell anymore!! I remember in college I was a lot less stressed, I was also going to hockey games two and three times a week. Is there a connection.... YES!! Hockey reduces stress!!!

Sorry I am finished now!!

Again, Way to go to those giving up smoking!!

Congratulations to all who have been successful in stopping smoking. For those who have tried, but continue to smoke, think of it as a trial run. I have been smoke-free for 16 weeks, 4 days, 14 hours, 55 minutes, and.....

Stopping smoking is one of the hardest things that I have ever done, and I'm still not sure that I am finished. I know that others, including my dear husband, were able to quit with less difficulty and in a shorter time. Good, good cheer to them and all like them. For me, and some others like me, it wasn't easy and is still a big concern. The cravings have diminished but the habit and the psychological aspects are still there. The thing that keeps me smoke-free now is that I know that, regardless of the outcome, I will never stop smoking again. It took me dozens and dozens of tries over 50 fifty years and this is the last one. Like others, it was an operation (not heart related) that helped me stop.

For me, the very best part of not smoking is not having to continually worry about where and when I can have my next smoke. I missed so much in my life because the cravings were often more important to me that being fully present in the moment.

So does that mean if I give my kid a cigarette, she'd eat her cauliflower?

LOL :D

Everyone who is fighting and winning the battle to quit smoking should be congratulated. It is a terribly hard addiction to get past.

Congratulations to all who have quit and to those who are trying. Keep up the good work. I'm so happy I could just POP! I'm in rehab with a poor guy who's been stented twice and hasn't stopped smoking........I'm praying for him. Any suggestions from you veteran quitters for his support?

So you have stopped smoking, good for you. I have been somber for over four years, the same as the surgery. I am proud that you are speding the extra money wisely. You keep hanging in there and you will succeed.

I think it's great for all those of you that have quit smoking!

Janie, I remember you asked me to be your quit smoking buddy at the beginning of the year, but I mentally was not ready. I'm so glad you were able to. Keep up the good work!

Hopefully some time soon I can join you all. I find myself like Pam. Something is always stressing me out to have one. It doesn't help me much to come from a smoking family either, which I'm very close to. All the family gatherings are in smoked filled house. My house is too small to accommadate my family. How does everyone who has smoked and quit, deal with that?

My husband smokes, i always seem to be stressed out, all the little things get on my nerves. I just keep telling myself i hate the taste of cigs and it seems to help. I also tried herbble cigarettes they tasted dissgusting but i told myself that was how all cigarettes tasted and it was good to actually be able to hold and light one because i find that is all i really miss about them. Try to think that cigs wont help because after you have smoked it, the stress you had before is still there.
