the music's in me,

the music's in me,

Steppenwolf. Saw them in the early 70's outside of DC at the Merriwether Post Pavillion. Does that date me or what!! Say, Cort. Long time ago you mentioned a book, Blue Highways. I bought it for my father (85) who has really enjoyed it. I would love to know of more books, or maybe websites for those who just love to travel slowly on the Blue roads. He misses driving so much but he had to give up his license due to his increasing dementia. Thanks for sharing!

Marguerite :D

Ah, yes, Marguerite, _Blue Highways_ is an excellent book. I'm glad your Dad enjoyed it! I'm not sure how I will react when I have to give up my license. Most of my friends tell me (jokingly, of course) that the day I give up my license will be the day I die....heh.

At any rate, the only other book that I know of is "On The Road", by Jack Kerouac. Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to get a copy yet, so I cannot endorse it from personal experience. However, several people from another message board of mine have strongly suggested I read it sometime.

As for websites, you might try the travel channel's website...though, I'm not sure of that link...and, I'm not even sure that would be the type of thing your Dad would be interested in. But, I'm told that the Travel Channel (we don't have cable/dish) is a good one....

HTH.
