I heard on NPR yesterday a report that a study had been done looking at genetic determinants of the proper Warfarin dosage, and that they soon will be able to determine start-up doses through genetic sequencing. Apparantly now start-up doses are determined now according to gender, age, and weight, but all the fussing we go through to determine the appropriate dose is largely due to genetic variability that controls our response to Warfarin.
