I was just curious to learn what experiences our members have had with generic Coumadin. I had heard that some may have had additional INR variability, but that was a long time ago. Any comments ????? Chris

I never saw anything different Chris. For me, it made absolutely no change one way or the other except price and that the generic Barr tablets are much easier to snap in half on the score.

Chris,

They started me on Coumadin in the hospital, but I got switched to warfarin sodium on the 5th day when I came home and got my 'scrip filled at the pharmacy.

My INR has been a little bouncy, but I think that's due to being a *newbie* and not to the brand of drug.

Have switched back and forth twice, due to insurance whims. Am on Barr warfarin now. Never saw any fluctuation during a change that was any greater than the usual fluctuations I see.

Hey Chris,
I have been on Warfarin by Barr since my surgery and haven't noticed any problems.
Take Care

Thanks for the feedback. I did a little drug pricing on the internet yesterday and was amazed at the variations in price. In a few cases, I can get mail order drugs for less than Anthems co-payment. Sounds like the way to go, especially since I can't get my local CVS pharmacy to manage their stock levels with any degree of professionalism. I almost gave them my lecture, then decided to save my breath and go elsewhere. If you want a sampling of internet drug prices, use your Google search engine and simply key in the name of the drug you want to research. You will be amazed. This is also a good way to view the detailed data sheet info on a drug in case the one they gave you has extremely small print. Even bifocals aren't enough in my case. Chris

Hi Chris

Same story for Tyce. He has been on both and hasn't seen any difference!!
