Roche Diagnostics (the manufacturer of CoaguChek) has given me a check for $500.00 as an honorarium for giving a talk at the dinner. Since I will have very little expenses going to Denver, I plan to donate the money to the group. We can use it to cover any deposit that we need to make on the dining room. With what is left I will divide it equally among the people at the dinner to ease some of the expenses. If we have $450 left and there are 45 people at the dinner everyone will get $10 toward the price of the dinner. If 90 show up everyone will get $5, etc.

I also plan to invite the CoaguChek sales rep from Denver to come to the dinner. He will able to answer questions for you.

If you have any questions that you would like me to cover about warfarin (and maybe other medications if you give me time enough to prepare) please list them on this thread.

Everyone will have the option of turning their money over to Hank, if they would like.

Thanks Al!

Thanks Al!

Al,

You ARE indeed, a gentleman and a scholar!!

Thank you for your generosity.

I'm not so sure I'm going to make it (haven't made a reservation yet, either), however I'm curious how many have signed on to golf at your son's course?

Regards,

What a wonderful gesture AL! Greatly looking forward to meeting you finally!

I can attest that the Coaguchek is a wonderful product. Have been very pleased with my unit :) Wonder if the Roche rep would be willing to demo? This may be helpful to those making a decision.

Ms. Rain.......where is the main dinner being held? Still trying to decide on car rental. TY :D

Perry,
Nobody signed up so far. Several people have expressed an interest. They will not open the schedule for October until about Sept 1 so it is no big deal. The only thing that would be a problem is if somebody schedules a tournament and takes the whole morning. If that happens, I'm sure he could get people on at another course.

Gina,
I'd rent a car. Golden is right at the foot of the mountains. There are lots of things to see within 1/2 hour or so.

Besides the mountains the Colorado Railroad Museum is in Golden. On Saturday October 16 they will have a narrow gauge steam engine running. It is called A Day Out With Thomas (the tank engine). The tickets are $14.00 for a 25 minute ride. They also have three of the more unique things in railroad history - Galloping Goose (gooses - geese?) . This is a hybrid of a car engine, and and some kind of a car or truck body that ran on rails and served the SW Colo mountain towns north of where Rain lives. see

Thanks, Al. You are such a part of the forum! I too am looking forward to meeting you. I haven't golfed since OHS but it's because of a shoulder problem. My husband is not a golfer even though we live here in Pinehurst!

We saw the geese when we were in Golden in 88; they alone are worth the trip to the museum. A steam engine train on Saturday morning sounds quite interesting...

The Golden Hotel

The Golden Hotel

Hey Gina!!

You won?t be needing a car to get to the Friday night ?main dinner?. It will be conveniently located in the banquet room of the Golden Hotel!! :) Also, Thursday night is ?Prime Rib Night? at Coburn?s Restaurant in the hotel. (10 oz $8.95, 12 oz $10.95, 16 oz 12.95 served with potato & vegetable) What do you all think about that? Seems pretty reasonable and would make it easy for folks coming in to find us.

It sounds like quite a few people will be there with cars. I really don?t think you need to rent a car. We may have flash backs of being in Janie's car in SAT... but I think we can get everyone where we wanna go. :D (remember sitting on each other's laps?!) :D

Yep Al .... there?s a ?Galloping Goose? on display in Dolores, CO. Ten miles from my house. My Mom rode on it... I think she said she was a teenager.. so that would have been sometime in the thirties. It's a very cool looking train.

Sounds Awesome!

Sounds Awesome!

It all sounds awesome Rain,

Unfortunately, as each week goes by, our chance of definite arrival diminishes somewhat. I would safely say that it's about a 75% chance we will be there at this point. It's only 21 weeks away and we are doing everything in our power to make it possible.

Reunion News

Hey All!
Thanks for all the reunion news that you all have been posting! I am sorry to say that I am not able to post as often as I would like.

Rain,

Christine and I will arrive Thursday afternoon and would like to hook up with any folks that are there! I know that Christine and I want to see all we can while there! Have you heard anything from Greg-o? Tell him we need him there to lead the troops!
Hank,

Hugs to all,
Joni

Hey Joni It will be great to see you both again! I am arriving on Friday. Shooting for early afternoon. Actually get into Denver Wednesday. Visting with my friends for a few days prior in Parker :D More I think about it.....I will need a car. Denver, Parker, Golden, Denver. Don't feeling like hoofing it, lol  See you all soon!

How about the parents of a patient attending the reunion?
Actually, I don't think we can make it as we will be returning from Williamsburg VA just a few days prior. But.. there is always a chance that we might make it.

Don't forget the Quilt Museum in Golden. :)

Parents

Parents

Parents of patients are most surely invited. In fact, anyone who wants to come is invited. Everyone is welcome.

Joni, I have every intention of attending, but at this point in time I cannot say that it is a sure thing. Gotta feed the family 1st and foremost.

Hey Al!
Can't wait to meet you. I wish my Dr's could hear what you had to say.
THey Dr. taking calls for my Dr. on vacation told me to not to take any wafarin today because it was 4.4. Do you think I will listen to her!! Not!!!!!!! Iwill decrese my med. but I learned long time ago not to skip it all together. That can get you in a world of trouble. Right!
Hank, I hope everything works out for you. It would not be the same without you and Michelle. You are in my prayers if that what it takes to get you there.

So, Hank -

Do you know yet if things will work out for you to attend the reunion?

I still do not know!

I still do not know!

 It isn't looking too good at this point. Time is ticking and we haven't been able to reserve a room or arrange travel plans.

I don't know that you should tell them that Hank. They might just show up at your house and have it there. ;) :)
