Trust me guys, you don't want to know! I'm not sure exactly which forum to post this on, it's not exactly heart-related, however it is surgery related.

This is just a FYI for pre-menopausal women. When I got my surgery date, I looked at a calendar, and thought, "Oh good, at least I won't have to deal with my period during my hospital stay, it won't be due until 2 weeks later!" WRONG!

I started bleeding a couple of days after surgery, I asked the nurses about it, and they said, it happens sometimes just because of the trauma that your bodie's been put through.

No one had mentioned this possiblity before, it may have been discussed here before, but I only found this great site 2 days prior to surgery.

So.......if you are a pre-menopausal women who's about to have open-heart surgery, be warned that it could happen and pack some of those little "necessities". I had to have a nurse go find me some. And then to top it all off when that was all over, I still got the one I should have gotten two weeks later! Ugghhh:rolleyes:

Jean-
That happened to me, too. But I did not get the "regular" period two weeks later. The nurse told me the same thing. I thought it was weird. It was so inconvenient, but I was too out of it to really care.
Weird.

Yes, and I got that visit from "Aunt Flo" when I had the angiogram done. Since I couldn't wear any underwear, they gave me a Kotex with a sanitary belt. I looked like a sumo wrestler! :) Sorry to be so graphic, but it's funny now that it's over!! LOL

I had the same visitor, but with strange results from the nurse.
She mentioned the blood in the urine and I suggested that maybe I had the visitor. Never heard anymore on the subject then. They thought it had to do with the coumadin. Funny how people minds don't function when you are the patient and they have the education to know more than you. I was luck to have been somewhat prepared. I had a problem to begin with, so I had some consistancy pads with me. I hardly use them except when I am on cycle. I use the extra assorbancy and works fine for me. At last, I know now I was not alone. Thanks for sharing. Take care all.

hi Girlz!

I thought perhaps my cycle would get messed up with the surgery, as everything is out of whack and the whole body is in shock. But, my "friend" didn't miss a beat, and came a week after surgery, just as expected, to the day, and no abnormalities since. I was very encouraged to see that some parts of my body were unaffected by the surgery....
