I'm so nervous I can barely eat anything. But I know that everything will be fine. I'm looking forward to seeing the other side of the mountain!

Phyllis,
Thanks so much for thinking of us!
I just want to say that I do feel like I have a lot of new friends because of this site. You have all taken away my anxiety of the unknown. I don't know how I would be feeling right now if I didn't have all my 'new friends'!! :D :p

I truly feel like you very likely could have saved my life. I never would have thought about questioning my Cardiologist until I read that several of you recommended (to someone else) that they ask to see a Surgeon and forget about waiting for the Cardiologist. I wouldn't have even dreamt of doing thatuntil I read it on this site! But, I was feeling pretty rough and went to see my Cardiologist (took my husband along for back-up) he, of course, said I could probably wait another 6 months for surgery..but..if I just really wanted to go see one he'd set it up.
The Surgeon (after reading my echo) said I had a 4-4+ regurg and with all my symptoms, he recommeded surgery the next week..so much for my Card... he's out of here! My husband and I both feel he doesn't take women seriously and didn't like being questioned.
I wanted to talk to another Surgeon so I had to wait a week..but, all that to say THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been soo blessed by all of you and I can't wait to get to the other side and come back and tell you!
I have been a visitor for about a year and I'm so glad that I finally joined and became active.
Thanks VR.com!!:D

Good luck to all of you. Things are going to be just fine. I spent quite a bit of time with my surgeon the day before my surgery because they were doing all sorts of tests and he showed up at all of them! Not sure if that was a good sign or a bad sign, but I could tell he really cared. I think I met his entire staff as they came by to see me also. My surgeon and most of his staff came by a couple days after my surgery to see how I was doing. He couldn't believe I wanted a tissue valve instead of a mechanical valve, but after the operation he was elated!...I thought I was going to wake up with a pig valve instead I got the 3000 TFX.....By all means meet and talk to your surgeon if you can.

Phyllis than you for keeping us updated!
My prayers are with each of you this week..and praying for a very very successful week with lots of boring recoveries to report!!

pfsinger..you must eat dear.. you want to be your healthiest for your surgery!! WE had a presurgery Feast with family and friends the nigth before mine.. I was grateful for that b/c hospital food sure doesn't cut it!

You will all do great..and we will be sitting on this side of the mountain waiting for the very routine non eventful reports:D

Wow it really IS a busy week with five of you. Good luck and -- hey it's a piece of cake! :D Well, not quite THAT, but you'll be on the road to recovery and concerned with all that stuff before you know it.

Watch out for the food police -- they have their eyes on you.

We'll be thinking of everyone this week and waiting to hear that you've made it to the other side.
God Bless and Godspeed
Mary

Ooooh - a presurgery feast. That's a great idea.

I am forcing myself to eat, much to my stomach's dismay. I'm trying to eat things that I won't be able to post-surgery.

I think I'll have a feast on Thursday night. Great idea, Marky. Thanks!

What a busy week this is...

I am sending out prayers for lots of boring surgeries and recoveries to come out of this...

Cant wait to hear all your boring reports and that you are all safely back at home and over to the other side of the mountain :D

Yeah...ad eat your favourite foods quickly!...everything will be tasting yucky for a while after surgery.;)
