well the doc took me off the heparin today as my inr has hit the number that they wanted before taking me off of it. so no more i.v. lines just the the ones going into my hand but they have to stay there til i go home. so now all i am hooked up to is the tilemetry monitor which is wireless anyway so it doesn't stop me from walking anywhere. The doctor told me monday for sure possibly tomorrow depending on what my inr is in the morning. so i have my fingers crossed. i feel like i could sleep all day and can't wait to get home to my bed where i am comfortable and i know that no one is going to bother me. they are finally going to let me go off the floor only for half an hour at a time as long as the nurse knows where i am. so i will probably head up to the rooftop pavillion today just to have some different scenery.

How much Coumadin do they have you taking? How long have you been taking it? Are they forcing Ensure or Boost on you with your meals? Any other meds?

What I'm leading to is that they may be sabotaging your INR.

At 1.6 you should still be on Heparin. At least until you hit 2.0.

They are forcing multi-vitamins and iron and giving me 5 mg of coumadin. Well it's sunday and the nurse just told me what my inr is and it went up to 2.6 so it is time to go home just waiting on the doctors orders now and for him to do his rounds. Yay

Jax -

Your comment about going home to your own bed caught my eye. MANY OHS patients report that they find sleeping in a (flat) bed to be uncomfortable or that they can't roll over on their side easily/painlessly for several weeks.

Do you have a Recliner? Many report sleeping in a recliner more comfortable and definitely much easier to get into and out of than a regular bed.

Others report using BIG (Body) Pillows to prop them up at a bit of an angle as opposed to laying on their side.

Getting away from the Noise / Lights / middle-of-the-night Blood Draws and the regular Nurse Visits "to see that you are OK" does Wonders for improving the Quality of your Sleep!

Happy Homecoming!
