I probably did a little too much at work, lifting etc and I feel like crap now. I know this is not life threatening at this moment but, I am sure getting sick of being sick and getting worse. Three months ago this was not bothering me like it is now. Anyhow three weeks away from a new valve.
No I don't know why i posted but, this is the place to do so.

Oh and God bless my wife. She got me an Xbox 360 to watch Netflix and game on after surgery. I hope this is not her way of prepping me for abandonment....

Consider this a lesson learned. Time to slow down and take it easy and be good to yourself or else your body is just going to complain even more if you ever over do it again.

Try to take a step back and relax.

I was miserable in the month before my surgery. Felt awful and didn't have enough energy to do anything.

I tried washing my car one day and after a few minutes had to sit down on the wet driveway and lean against my car for twenty minutes before I could muster enough energy to stagger back into the house.

Once I got past the trauma effects of the surgery, I couldn't believe how much better I felt with the new valve in place.

You're almost there. Just pace yourself for the next few weeks and look forward to how much better you're going to feel in a few weeks.

Good for your wife! My wife and kids set me up with a bunch of DVDs of movies I'd never seen, and I enjoyed kicking back in the recliner and watching them when I got home. Wasn't focused enough to read much for a while.

Yes, indeed, it's time to start winding down and taking it easier and then enjoy all the pampering you can get. :)

I don't want you to think I'm really a cruel, inhumane person, so I best keep my mouth closed. :D

I know why you posted, James. A little commiseration and support - and there's not a thing wrong with that! :)

That was a nice gift your wife got you! I think she's the one who'll have to worry about you abandoning her to play games all day.

Just do not overdo it, James. I tried to tidy up cupboards in the kitchen and bedrooms before my surgery and I felt like crap. Everything can wait and we need to respect our bodies' conditions.

Nice thoughtful wife you have.

Hi James, I'm not really sure why I'm posting either now ... Suffice to say, I know how you feel and you have my full support... Oh and I think that's a fantastic photo of you and your wife ! Also that I have an On-X valve, it seems to work pretty well and the people from On-X are a great bunch too. Only today I received an email from them congratulating me on some recent fund raising I was involved in.
Take it easy.

I always felt like something was just not right with me or my heart, always short of breath! I remember trying to walk in the park and being so short of breath, I feel so much better and everyone says my color looks alot better!!! Take it easy!

Yup.... sounds like you overdid it and are now overtired. The wait can be very exhausting and frustrating, but just remember - tomorrow is a new day and you will likely feel better after some much earned rest.

Don't beat yourself up for feeling this frustration. It is completely normal - just remember that it is temporary and each day gets you closer to feeling like a million bucks!

Sitting around and waiting is driving me nuts as well. I guess it something we all have to go through. I have been taking it easy and feel pretty good except I am tired all of the time. I don't know if it is because of the meds, valve, or just being bored out of my mind. Does anyone on this forum play chess? Maybe that would help pass some of the time.

Hello James,

Just think, after your recovery, you'll have your life back. It will be over before you know it! I know how hard the waiting is. But......

You'll be on "The Other Side Of The Mountain"!

Good luck and keep posting.

James, no one would ever buy an XBox360 and then abandon it! :) What a nice wife! Get yourself some good games and take this opprtunity to become an expert and beat the crap out of all your friends. If nothing else that should distract you at the very least. I'm not one that can advise you as I'm not there yet. I have no date set. They are just watching it closely with echos every 4 months . Anyway, the waiting even though it could be 1 to 2 years is tough some days. Just knowing it is out there and I'm going to have to face it. Vent all you want. I can promise you I plan to when it is my turn! :):)

BTW the hospital Justin goes to is a Childrens and now has some game system in every patient room, BUT before then we always packed Justin's game system and whatever wires he would need to hook it up and games, so he could play whenever he wanted to and not have to wait for the cart to come to his room (that usually was being played by Dads not their babies, I might add) or wait until the 1 in the play room was not in use.
