Okay, well, I'm 14 and had my Ross Procedure June 29th of last year. And I haven't had any major problems...a few rhythem problems and blood pressure issues. But (a) I'm bored and wanted to start a topic and (b) want to know how you guys are doing after the Ross. Have any of you had to have re-surgeries since it? Have there been any major problems? Do you "click"?? Yeah...click. Like when I bend over and breathe deeply, I can hear a clicking noise...and it is in sync (sp?) with my heart beat. Weird! :p And when I feel my heart beat, it's like weird. Like I don't know if it's normal, cuz I never really checked before, but if feels like it's not really "beating" but kinda whooshing from one side to another. If I am making any sense. Yeah....so that's about it.

And any of you people in the Houston area, there's a website started by people I know (group is mainly children and teens right now) for support for those affected by CHD. So, if that's you, the website is itsmyheart.org

Oh, and if any of you guys have carepages so do I, so let me know, and I'll give you mine.

Welcome Gurlie

I am also a CHD kid. Was born with bicuspid aortic valve. You can read my story in the stories section of this site.

I am six years post op next week & am doing great, all check-ups have ended with good reports.

I also have some odd sounds now and again. Once in a while, when I twist or stretch just right there is a very loud popping sound from my sternum. I really get some odd looks when I am in meetings at work. And yes, sometimes it hurts like heck.

Yes, there are some folks here who have had re-op post RP, hopefully they will stop by soon and give you their experiences. What have the docs told you concerning your RP longevity? Do they believe the donated pulmonic valve will need replacement?

Again, welcome this is a great site.

Ben Smith

Thanks!!

Thanks!!

Yeah...I don;t really know what the Drs think about how long my vlave will last. A long time I hope!! Thanks for tellin me about your RP!!!:)

I'm glad to see you are hear asking questions, as well as the RP forum on Yahoo groups !

We are all a part of a special family, no matter the procedure we have chosen to have.

hi rossgurlie,
welcome!
my husband, joey, is the patient here. he had his rp done almost 5 yrs ago and runs, bikes, elipticals (sometimes i think he is aerobically stronger than i am!!!), swims, etc.
he has had some episodes with afib and takes a very low dose of amiodarone to control that. other than that, he's doing well and feeling good.

hope more of us come forward...
take care,
sylvia

I didn't have a Ross Procedure but I saw that you had surgery the same day as I had mine AVR and wanted to say hi! :D
