wonder if anyone more knowledgeable about this condition can explain what this could mean for the future of bav patients? Specifically when it comes to choosing mechanical vs tissue.

It really doesn't change anything with the debate of tissue vs mechanical. Its a "dry" valve - shipped without fluid - the valve comes with a conduit already connected to the valve if the aorta needed replacement. This assembly has been common with mechanical valves for decades but I believe this is a first for tissue valves.
