I just talked with QAS about the results I have been receiving on the INRatio. I am not sure if I have the Factor 5, but my sister does. I was told that could make home testing impossible Has anyone had a problem with home testing because of the disorder? I have a lot more research to do on this. Just think how smart I am becoming because of my AVR. I faught almost 6 months to get the meter approved, now I might not be able to use it.

What a bummer.:(

Wouldn't it be nice if we knew all of these hidden things about us before hand? If you indeed do have this problem, home testing is not for you. I wouldn't throw in the towel until I've seen a Hemotologist and have it confirmed though.

No kidding - what a bummer! Don't put the cart before the horse just yet. Get it checked out.

I recall reading a post of similar nature. Al Lodwick and or Brendon gave a response to someone that had a blood disorder. Informed them that a home testing monitor could not be useful to them.

I would see a hemotolgist to get checked out!. Otherwise, you will drive yourself crazy attempting to figure it out.;)

I wondered about thrombophilia when I read about your troubles, Jackie. It seems to me there's a way to test, but it's not the usual. I think Al's website says something about it.

I have sent my PCP an email asking him to order a blood test, I will let you know what happens.

I did check out this web site: http://www.fvleiden.org/rec_diagnosed/home_inr.html

It does give all the web site's for the Home Testing units, I am a bit confused, Dose not take much these days.

Sorry, I've been on the road on business or I would have resonded sooner.

There is no reason that we know of that should prevent a patient with Factor V from using the INRatio monitor. There is no impact from Factor V on the coagulation assay in the technology.

Anti-phospholipid is the condition which self-testing is not recommended.

:)
