Thank-you to those who invited me to FaceBook, but it just wasn't for me.
I have since deleted my account, so please remove me from your friends list.

Ross, I'm sorry to have made this thread, here on vr, but I couldn't even figure out how to write a message for all to see on facebook that I was departing.

So thank-you all for the invite, but deep down I knew it wasn't for me.

Like it or not, I'll still be around here with my fudge and keeping my UPS friend within arms reach :)

I don't understand much about FB either Freddie. My daughter told me they are talking about charging to be on FB. If thats so I'm off too not really worth keeping if you have to pay. It's sort of confusing and I really don't even use it much.
I did'nt even know you were on it.

** Don't stop your fudge and the UPS guy that would be terrible.

I had a girl contact me the other day wanting me to join facebook again. I told her nope, if she wants to contact me, she has my email address. I've been in this town all my life, listed in the phone book and none of them have ever made any effort to call me, so why should I join facebook again? I just don't like it.

I don't like the new format of Facebook; it's confusing. However, it is far better than myspace, which I don't use (unless I listen to songs posted by artists). I like Facebook for that fact that you can limit accessibility to your selected friends. I read recently that you can go through the "back door" and access the account of someone who isn't your friend. I have found that not to be the case. I have accessed photo's from non-friends because one of my friends commented on their photo, how I could not view their profile or any other information.

I don't love Facebook, but don't dislike it. I do like being to view quick updates from several friends and family in just a few minutes. I'm not personally very good at updating them about me though.

It seems to be that personal information is more easily accessed on an open forum or on myspace than on Facebook. Twitter I know nothing about.

With all of this said, I am not trying to convince anyone about Facebook one way or the other. It's okay for me, that's about it.

Sorry to see you go, Freddie!:(

My feelings about Facebook are similar to Wise's. I like the quick updates from friends and family, and it is an easy way to communicate little things that I might not take the time to include in an email.

I joined FB after being talked into it by my step-son but unfortunately, I don't use it very much either. I told him that if he wanted a more prompt response from me & dad to email us instead of using FB. Just don't feel too comfortable with it (FB) either.

Freddie, I'm with you. FB just seems like it would take up alot of time, especially me being on dial up internet.... still...!
My buddies know how to contact me by e-mail, forums, OR, get this: "the telephone"....LOL ;)

SB luvs FB! :D

Can make lots of little sarcastic comments -- political if the mood strikes SB, or just about anything: scenery, mood, what have you. The presidential jet's NY flyover, for example -- what are they doing, invading SB's airspace? :p

I've been thinking about getting off of FB too. I haven't been on it for a few days because my computer had been down. I was on it so short of time but the novelty has kinda worn off.

It took me a long while before I felt comfy about BF...I am not much on it, yet I like it as I can see photos of the little ones in the family from here and overseas and we all can comment and read others' comments feeling we are all gathered around!

I found a childhood neighbor friend on it that I lost contact with since we were 19!

Facebook really is a handy way to communicate. I was able to post the details of my surgery as well as give regular updates to all my friends. And it is a great way to get encouragement from friends and family. You can updated it as little or as much as you would like. It is especially handy in keeping up to date with friends that you have sort of lost touch with or aren't as close to any longer. Your bestest friends and family will of course know the latest with you. But lots of others are interested and care as well. I especially love checking in on old friend's family's. My 20 year high school reunion is this year and I have thoroughly enjoyed catching up with many people!

Of course it isn't for everyone, but I wanted to point out some positives!

I agree with you Cheryl, I have enjoyed catching up with old friends. At first I thought, if we didn't keep in touch, there's a reason, but really sometimes there isn't one. We just got busy with life... I have reconnected with my childhood best friend and a few others from different periods of my life. We now get together and/or talk on a regular basis. I do know people who don't like it or won't join, but I personally have found it a positive experience. This morning a childhood friend who now lives in Chicago had just posted pics of his newborn baby from his phone to FB right there in the hospital! Pretty cool.

I absolutely love facebook. In the past few months I have caught up with 13 people I went to high school or middle with. Some old neighbors that used to live down the street from us too.

That was kinda my thinking, too, Wise.

*nods*

Indeed! I mentioned this here...

...but, since I joined, I've re-connected with a bunch of old friends ... that I never would have otherwise.....because I didn't know where they are now.
