I finally broke down and called and made an appointment with a real eye doctor for this Wednesday... My eyeshave really been bad this winter. Wake up with crusty lids, ect..have to take a warm facecloth to get them open... :p I have noticed , too, if I read a newspaper, magazine..I have blurred vision for a few hours. The last time they were checked and I got new script was 3 months after my VR surgery... I think that was a mistake...but, they were fine until a few months ago..I'm thinking I should ask him for a 3 way lens..Distance, computer and reading...No lines...Getting old is not for sissies. :D Bonnie

Bonnie,
It's always smart to see a MD eye doctor every couple of years. Especially since you are having some symptoms that only a MD can really diagnose (assuming there is something to diagnose). I wish you well.
Yeah - getting old is something I find more curious every day. It's a real experience.

Hey Bonnie,
I am glad to hear you are going to get your eyes checked. But now you are going to really see what we all look like.
Take Care

Bonnie,
Getting old is sure not for sissies.
During the last six months I've been getting similar things with my eyes.
Well guess what, out of nowhere they said I'm getting(or already have) cataracts. So maybe you should see an opthamologist instead of an optomitrist.
Of course you are still young so maybe it's just eye strain. ;)

Bonnie,

I'll vote a hearty "Thumbs Up" for the no-lines progressive (3-way) lenses. I've been using them for many years, and won't be without them -- even for sun glasses. One caution -- be sure, be very sure that they carefully measure where your eyes are within the frames you choose. The height of the 3 different prescriptions as well as the "optical centers" of the lenses are really critical. If they get any of the measurements wrong, you'll thing your eyes are going crazy and the glasses will cause more pain than good. When all is correct with these "progressive" lenses, you just put them on and it feels like you aren't wearing glasses at all. You just get used to gently tilting your head up and down slightly to find the correct section of your lens for the distance you're looking at. Oh, BTW, I also find it well worth the couple of extra dollars to opt for the Anti-Reflective coating on the lenses. No more "star-burst" thingies in my glasses when I drive at night.

I have been wearing glasses for years since the age of 13 and would not have it any other way. May not be candidate for lasik, not for contact lenses. So I wear glasses. I have to see the opthamogilist due to being diabetic. I remember, not long after being diagnosed, I had problems and had to get new glasses. While waiting for them to come in, almost two weeks, it was hard to see. When I did paperwork, was able to do so without glasses. So, glad that you are getting the peepers checked. Something going on with them getting crusty during the night. Good luck.

He said, I just needed a little adjustment to lens.. :) About average, for the 3 years since I last had them upgraded. :) Rich, NO cataracts, ect... :) Steve, Decided to pass on the coating, due to I don't drive after dark...I live on top of a very winding mountain road.. (We stay overnight with children, if we have a special dinner, ect...)..Caroline..He said the crusty eyes were from allergies, ect. I have 2 cats and a dog..Plus, when Hubby changed out our filter, it was clogged with lint, ect...Need to do it more often. He said, the best thing was to take a warm cloth in the mornings and hold over my eyes for a few minutes...About the watering .said, I was lucky at my age that my eyes watered...I told him, I sat at computer a long time. Said, to hold my eyes shut for a few seconds..and it would help spread the tears around the eyes....(shut tight)so, I should get the new ones in a few days... :) Bonnie
