Last night I saw a show about Alaska on the History Channel.
This gave some of the history about settlement of Alaska and the dogsled relay in 1925 that rushed diphtheria vaccine to Nome, Alaska, which spawned the Iditarod race.
Someone was interviewed who mentioned the effects of extreme low temps on the body. Said that at temps of minus 50 degrees, blood coagulates.
I found this interesting.
Guess that rules out my moving to Barrow, Alaska. (A friend's husband lived there several years while he taught at Ilisagvik College. I have heard many interesting things about winters in Barrow. shiver shiver shiver!)
