Our daughter came home yesterday (day 4, post surgery) ...

I made schedule for meds, coughing/spirometer/back clapping and her initial PT/OT exercises. But.. I hate to awaken her to do these. In the hospital, she was awakened for meds, but not for exercises. How did you handle these exercises/meds post-op at home?

Sleep is too hard to come by to awaken for exercises. It depends on the medicine whether I would wake someone up. If it is something that is taken every four hours then maybe....if it is a once a day and I would expect her to wake up in the next hour or so then no.

I'm glad she is home and under your watchful care.

depends on the medicine and its importance to her condition. Pain meds - she will probably let you know when it is beginning and that's the time to give it - before the pain sets in. Heart meds should probably be on time.

Exercises - I chose my own schedule. They gave me a sheet showing exercises and positions. I did them several times a day all by myself - with cousin standing not far.
