Hi everybody, just got some bad news, my surgeon told me my diaphragm is elevated on the left side and would take one year to heal its self. i am now having pains in my left chest ( lung i quess) when deep breathing or walking, can't sleep anymore than 2 hrs at a time. i am getting a little worried about the diaphragm, wondering if the phrenic nerve is injured or if it was cut during surgery, my surgeon was kinda vague about this when he told me and i am starting to loose confidence in him. does anyone have any experience with this and are there any tests to find out if the nerve if cut or injured.

Thanks

Ron

Ron - Sorry to hear about your diaphragm problems. I don't have any information to help you and it seems no one else does either. I would definitely get a second opinion. Good luck, I hope you find an answer.

Hi Ron-

I am sorry to hear that you are having this problem. I did a search on Google for the condition, and came up with quite a few hits. I didn't have time to read through them all, but you might like to. Apparently there are several reasons for elevated diaphragm.

Have you spoken to your Internist about this condition? Maybe you should give him a call.

Thanks everyone for the concern, i have a app. this coming Monday (xrays, bloodwork), then a specialist to check out the condition of the phrenic nerve that runs to the diaphragm.
