I am now seven and a half months post op. I saw my GP a few weeks ago as I have been having mild discomfort in the area of my heart, just like I had with my endocarditis. Blood tests didn't show any infection, just low thyroid, ECG was clear, he has ordered the echo just for my peace of mind. It could be psychosomatic but I do feel slightly SOB. My cardiologist didn't seem concerned about the discomfort, I didn't mention to him the SOB as it could be pure nerves.

Anyway, the echo is at 8.30 tomorrow morning. I need to visit the warfarin clinic for a blood tesst this week so will go immediately after my echo.

Once the echo is out of the way I will attempt to find a job, I haven't worked since March.

Good luck Sue!!! Really hope its all clear!
Will be looking for your update of good news tomorrow!

Emma, you know our hospitals, not telling the patient the result of the test, having to wait until you see your GP to be told, sheesh. Only problem is that here we have to pay to see a GP so I am not intending to visit him for the result, although I might phone him to ask. I am sure if there is a real problem he will phone me, he is a real sweetie like that. No news will be good news.

Whoops

Whoops

My appointment was apparently for Monday 6th, NOT Wednesday 8th! Whoops. The guy doing the echo wasn't happy that I had been referred by my GP and not a cardiologist, so all in all not a happy man. At least they didn't refuse to do the echo, even though they had re-booked me for the end of the month instead.

"DRATS"...dont you just hate that...

I also have missed an important visit by a few days or weeks as well,,,rather annoying.....

write yourself a big note for the next appointment,,,good luck!

Perhaps he had read my notes on Monday so remembered what a wreck I had been! This is a very small island, less than 100,000 population so statistically they probably only get one case of endocarditis per year, and in the past year I was it! Also I was the first person to have a TOE in the hospital for four years, other people would have had to go to England for the procedure. The room was packed that day, lots of people wanted to watch.

The reason he was annoyed with my GP was that he said a person with my pathology ought to be seeing a doctor in the hospital, not just my GP and then a visiting doctor who is only available once a month. He thought his report will be too complex for a GP to understand fully. All I want to hear is that I am ticking on all cylinders and am not about to be rushed into hospital again, that I can look for work.

Glad you got your scan ok. I have missed appointments like that before! Mine not Chloes thankgoodness, but its easy to do.

As for not getting the results straight away, I've not heard of that from an echo. Maybe its cos Chloe is a child??? We always chat to the lady doing the echo and she shows me most of whats going on, enough to put my mind at rest. Then we go straight in to see her consultant who gives me all the details.

Hope your echo is all good!

This guy didn't say anything to indicate if it was good or bad. If I were to have seen a consultant in the hospital no doubt he would hav given me the results, now I just have to wait until the report has been posted to my GP.
