I have my first echo tomorrow since my AVR in December. I see in other posts that folks talk about numbers and echo results. Should I ask my doctor for my echo results now and from the original ones done prior to surgery? Also, can I ask my surgeon for the official report of my surgery, and will he give it to me?
Any info or advice anyone can offer would be appreciated.
Anxious to hear how the new valve is working...I feel fine.
Thanks,
:)

By Law, any Medical Provider is obligated to provide a copy of your records to you (or anyone you designate). There may be a "copying charge". Most Medical Records Offices (at Hospitals, etc.) have information release forms readily available, just ask.

YES, it is wise to obtain copies of all your previous Test Results and keep them in a file. I like to chart my Echo results on a spread sheet for easy comparison.

I was furnished with a complete report from the Mayo with all of my test results as well as the Dr.'s notes. Also, the Mayo had requested the surgical notes from my OHS in 1980 from Duke and they forwarded me a copy as well. I think it is really interesting to read all of that stuff...my husband says I'm sick!!!!LOL

Yes, it is a good idea to get copies of all echos....before and after OHS.
I like to see those numbers on paper for myself, as opposed to the doc just mumbling something like, "everything's fine, see you next year."
