Saw my Dr today, she said my aortic valve leak is the same at moderate and walls of the heart were just a little thickened. She thinks the valve should be ok for 5more years. I told her I would like to see a surgeon in Boston for my 4.7 aneursym because I would rather have it done sooner rather than later. My diabetes is under great control with diet & exercise. So the plan is a CT in the next month and we will meet to talk about it in January. She knows some of the Docs at Brigham Womens and I have read some postings from mamsram that sound positive. So all in all, I think the visit went pretty good. She was talkng about waiting until it was 5-6 but with all the info I got from some Ross' and others posting I let her know that I plan on living another 20-30 years and didn't want the thing popping on me!

Hey Kathy,
Why to go! Glad to hear that you have taken charge of your health care. Keep up the good work.
Take Care

Kathy - Sounds like you have a positive attitude about all of this and that's great. Be sure and talk about the option of getting it all done while they're in there. Any time you can accomplish a "twofer", I think you're ahead of the game. Chris

That is good news Kathy. You know my take on the 4.7! It would be foolish to not have a good discussion about it. Good luck and let us know if we can help.

Hi Kathy-

Why wouldn't they do the valve while they're in there? I agree with Chris, get both done at once. Having to open you up a second time in 5 years or so, just doesn't make much sense. And you won't be a very happy camper when that time rolls around.

And there are no guarantees that it will go the whole 5 years, that's just a guesstimate.

They would definitely fix the valve at the same time. I think the Dr mentioned 5years because she feels the valve could last that long. I'll be glad to get this next CT scan done and go from there.
Thanks for your responses, I don't know what I would do without all of you. My hubby gets so nervous when I try to talk about all of this, he almost passed out when I had a hysteromy and all I had in was an IV,so you can imagine... He did come in with me to see the Dr so he understands whats going on. So, thanks for letting me run things by you guys.
Kathy
