I was hoping someone had info or Website detailing echo measurements. I did some searches of the forums and didn't really find what I was looking for. I'm thinking trends may be more important than actual measurements, but I'm not sure. I'm also looking at this from an aortic dissection slant and would like to know what measurements are important. I can post recent measurements if that would be of any value. Anybody willing to help a lost soul? Thanks, Dave

Thanks for the link, Dave.
Unfortunately I'm a little thick.
As some of you have read, I've been lifting weights and have a concern over Aortic Dissection. I got the impression that this could be monitored thru the echo. I'm trying to figure out which measurement that might be and at what value would it be a concern. For some unknown reason, I assumed it would be the Aortic Valve Gradients, but I'm not sure.
I had a visit with the PA after the echo and she said things looked ok and that I could continue as I have, but don't do more. I have an appointment with the actual cardio on the 31st, but I'd like to be self-educated. Any experience or being pointed in the right (any) direction would be appreciated. Dave

The AVG sounds like the one to keep your eye on to me. But I have no such concerns. But there are several people on here that have had it.

As far as the aortic measurements on this last echo the peak was 49.4 mm and the mean was 27.5 mm. The 6 month post replacement was 29 and 17 respectively. Seems like a big jump. But once again, I'm not sure those are even the numbers to be looking at to monitor "damage" from lifting weights or over exertion.:(

Hi Warnerd ..

I have similar echo results as yours .. My post op peak was 35 and now at the latest echo the peak is 50 and median is 30... My cardiologist will do another echo next week ..

what about you, what did your doctor tell you about this trend?
