Not sure if you all can help me but thought i'd run it by you. AT work we were practicing on a new ECG machine and I was the ginny peg. After they ran the ECG it said I had rapid sinus rhythm short pr interval and long qt intervals. Then it said consider hypocalcaemia or quindine like drugs.
My p/pr: was 80 ms/15 ms
qrs was 107 ms
qt/qtc/qtd: 392 ms/ 483 ms/-
heart rate was 91 bpm
On the end of the report it said that a MD should review.
yea it kinda bothered mme some cause i'm not syre how to read this. Yea I am a LPN:eek: but still don't know how to read this. Thought maybe one of you might have had a reading simular to this and might give me some info on it.

I have a B-jork Shikey mitral valve 1982
atrial fib 2005
I take Rthymol 425 mg twice a day, Synthroid, premarin, Warfarin, Vytorin 10/40 and calcium supplement.
Please let me know your thoughts. thanks

ECG Machines

ECG Machines

Hi Sandy,

I performed ECG's on people every night for 10 years in my life as a respiratory therapist.

The results that come out are always DEPENDENT ON LEAD PLACEMENT and many other things.

Until a cardiologist reads te ECG, I would ignore all of the results printed out at the time of test.

It's an old saying to "never trust a machine" , but this is definitely good advice here. If you have concerns, have a cardiologist read the report and see what he thinks.

Rhythmol lenthens QT/QTC as does Flecainide, another drug in the same class, and I would expect that your QT interval would be where it is in order for the Rhythmol to help keep you out of atrial fib. All machine read EKG interpretations have to verified by an expert. Playing with new equipment is fun though isn't it?
