Hey everyone!

Sorry i haven't been on in a while. Everything since my surgery back in October has been great. Michelle checks in everyday and keeps me informed if anything needs my attention.

Anyway, I have been told here and other places that the effects from the anesthesia from surgery can linger in your body for 6 months or so.

I have been experienceing very dry skin and scalp. The skin isnt anything that bothers me cause i can put on some moisturiser and iam good to go.
But the dry scalp thing is very embarrassing. It surfaces like dandruff and sometimes is very visable.

I have tried several Dandruff shampoos and Scapicin. Nothing seems to work. I have never had problems with dry scalp before so I was wondering if it could be from the effects from the anesthesia or something else used in the surgery? Or is it simply that this is one of the longest, hardest winters we have had in a long time and dry skin is a result?

Didnt know were to turn and I knew someone here could help! Please

Thanks
Jeff

It's the only thing I've found that would work. I've never had dandruff this bad and I mean to tell you I have it bad. You'd think I was moulting or something. I tried everything on the normal dandruff shelf to no avail. Doc told me to get this stuff and it kicks butt.

Hello Bowling Green!

I had the pleasure of being in your neck-of-the-woods last summer while visiting the University with my youngest son....but alas, he has decided to go to Kent State....which is closer to home so I shouldn't complain.....

I guess you had more than your share of snow this past winter! (I know, bad joke.)

I've been having problems with persistant skin cracks on my fingertips. I've been careful to wear latex gloves when using cleaning products and leather gloves when outside, but it seems I always have a crack starting or in the process of healing. My husband keeps reminding me of my surgery 6-1/2 months ago (like I've forgotten?), but I'm wondering if it has anything to do with all the meds I'm on. I do have an appointment with my PCP this afternoon. I'll see if he has any insight to these problems.

Hang in there Jeff.....Spring really is just around the corner!

Anna, I have the same thing going on, mostly on my thumbs at the edges of the nails. Those cracks go deep and nasty, and they hurt like a bandit when you try to do anything, like button a shirt or tie a shoe.

I've found that putting a fingertip bandaid on at night over a glob of triple antibiotic ointment will get them pretty much healed in two nights, and usable for the daytime after the first night. I hate wearing bandaids to work.

This winter has been harsh on skin, though it really hasn't been all that cold here in NJ.

Only one more week 'till spring, though...

Best wishes,
