Yesterday I seen mine family NP for follow up on my effexor for anxiety and imagine my surprise when she asks me all these questions about my symptoms and tells me that my internist ordered a event monitor to be worn for a month and that she should be the one to interpret any readings.. (my internist that is) and that she wanted me put on an anti-anxiety med and to make sure and record any problems. Well I am on the effexor already so no switching there and taking a higher dose of bisoprol-the b-blocker per reccomendations from drs. and unfortunately will go a month with no answers but I no they are working to help me so feel ok there like maybe soon i'll be getting more answers.
I was hooked up to the monitor yesterday and wear it until the 5th of sept. (by this time i will be moved and in classes again but i'll make sure and call and get results reight away. Anyone here know how long it takes to get these results after the 5th of sept? Sould I press the record button every time i feel a fast heart beat or anyother symptom?? how long does each recording record for? does my internist get each reading after everytime i record something or not until the entire month is completed? Yesterday i sent a recording b/c my heart beat was around 112 for a 30min or more period should i have done that - was it reasonable to send a strip??? I have so many questions -- if any one ehre can answer any of give anyother advice please do soo i'd appreciate it so so much.. much love, Erica

Monitor

Erica,

I wore the monitor for a month also. My Cardiologist called me before the month was up and said I was having Tachyardia (sp) and called me in a Beta Blocker to start taking.
Record every thing that feels abnormal to you and call it in after 2 or 3 events. It is kinda a hassle but like you said at least they are doing something. They will be able to see what is going on and then take better care of you. Well Good Luck and just keep busy with Classes and the time will fly by.

Your NP or the doctor should have given you some guidelines to go by, and a booklet with information on what to do and how to do it.

You should press the button any time you feel something different. Don't hold back. The more information, the better. that's the only way they can see what's going on with your heart.

But some monitors are a little different. There was someone who had to call after each and every event. I bet she had an older model. the newer ones let you record about 3, some, maybe more. So you should have that information from your doctor.
