Hi all,

Well I'm nearly 8 weeks post op now & was doing really well apart from the odd pain under my rib cage. X-rays concluded nothing until the pain got severe on Saturday night, then Sunday morning I had a fever of 38 so off we went to the hospital. After being monitored for 4 days, 1 chest X-ray, 1 CT scan, 1 echo & 3 blood cultures, they concluded Dresslers syndrome which is basically inflammation of lungs &/or pericardium. It happens to 7% of patients after OHS. I'm just glad that the cultures are all negative so far & they've given me Colchicine tablets which are anti inflammatories to take for 2 weeks,

Otherwise my rehab was going well & I was thinking of starting jogging, so hopefully it won't be long till I'm back to doing that,

Has anyone else had this or heard of it?

Hope your all well,

Ross

Same thing happened to me though they chose to drain fluid from around my heart and then introduce anti biotics via a drip as I had a bit of pneunomia also.

I still have the ocassional bit of pleuritic pain. I'm told it is nothing to worry about.
