Hi - I am a newbie here posting for a relative who will be having the surgery in the future. I 'was wondering if it is o.k. to ask if anyone here would know of a really good surgeon for aortic valve replacement in Chicago or suburbs. Thanks!!

Hello zazen and welcome.

The best thing to do is ask your doctor who he/she would recommend and why. I'm sure others will be along to help answer, but until then, you might want to check a couple of links and see for yourself who you have to choose from.

Hello and welcome. I am a Chicago native myself. Currently 'relocating' back home. My MVR took place out of state.

It is my understanding Loyola University and affiliates in Maywood, IL would be your best best for cardiac surgery and care.

I am in the process of finding new doctors myself with Loyola affiliation. Wish I could offer you more information at this point. Below is a link to a list of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons at Loyola.

I had surgery at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston (now Resurrection-St. Lukes, I believe). Drs. Murphy, Otto & Associates group was my surgical team with Dr. David DeBoer doing the honors.

Best of luck.

p.s. Let us know where you will be. We'll visit you.
